FREE 06/04 MLB Cheat Sheet: Top DFS Plays
June 4, 2025

We’ve got a full 10-game slate on tap tonight, but weather is definitely something we need to monitor. The KC/STL game is almost certainly getting rained out, and there’s a decent chance of delays or even rainouts in the ARI/ATL, TEX/TB, and DET/CWS matchups. The wind blowing out in Tampa is worth noting if that game plays.
Focusing on what we know, the MIN/OAK and NYM/LAD games both stand out with 10-run totals. The wind in San Francisco could also make the SD/SF game interesting, even with a lower total of 7.0. Let’s dive into the matchups and see where we can find some value.
Top Stacks
ATH 5-Man ($21,600)
Lawrence Butler, Jacob Wilson, Brent Rooker, Tyler Soderstrom, Shea Langeliers
The Athletics stack, priced at a reasonable $21,600, presents a compelling value at 2.00 points per thousand. While the 7.5% optimal rate suggests upside, the low 6.5% average ownership makes them an intriguing contrarian option. Without weather or game total considerations, this stack hinges on the A’s ability to outperform expectations against their opponent’s pitching; their low ownership means they don’t need to smash to pay off.
LAD 5-Man ($27,900)
Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Teoscar Hernandez, Will Smith
The Dodgers stack, headlined by Ohtani, Betts, and Freeman, presents intriguing leverage despite the hefty $27,900 price tag. At 1.80 points per thousand, the value is solid, and more importantly, the sub-10% average ownership across the board gives you a shot to vault up leaderboards. While their optimal rate sits at 7.2%, that’s likely suppressed by the sheer concentration of high-end talent on this slate. With a double-digit game total and wind blowing out in a hitter-friendly environment, the Dodgers’ bats are primed to exceed expectations, making them a +EV play at these ownership levels.
KC 5-Man ($19,500)
Jonathan India, Bobby Witt Jr., Maikel Garcia, Vinnie Pasquantino, Salvador Perez
The Royals stack presents intriguing leverage tonight. At 2.10 points per $1000, the value is solid, especially considering the projected low 7.2% average ownership. While the 6.5% optimal rate suggests they aren’t a must-play, the weather in St. Louis introduces significant risk that is likely to scare away a lot of DFS players. If the game plays, this KC stack could pay off big.
SP Plays
Top Play: Chris Sale ($9,800)
Chris Sale is pitching at an elite level, demonstrated by his recent outing against Philadelphia where he went 6 innings, allowing no earned runs and striking out 8. His track record shows consistency, averaging over 6 strikeouts per start in his last five games, including a 10-strikeout performance against Cincinnati. Sale’s ability to limit damage and rack up strikeouts makes him a high-floor, high-ceiling option.
Sale faces Arizona tonight, a team that struggles against left-handed pitching, further boosting his strikeout potential. His $9800 salary offers strong value at nearly 2x, and he projects to appear in over 17% of optimal lineups. Even with his high ownership projection (42.4%), Sale’s upside is too significant to ignore in tournaments.
Honorable Mentions
- Cade Povich ($5,700)
- Shane Baz ($7,800)
C Plays
Top Play: Ryan Jeffers ($3,700)
Ryan Jeffers bats second for the Twins and offers strong offensive upside at catcher. He faces an Athletics team allowing a high wOBA to right-handed bats, and his $3700 salary provides excellent roster flexibility. Jeffers’ consistent presence in the heart of the order maximizes his opportunities for run production.
Jeffers is projected to appear in nearly 8% of optimal lineups, indicating his potential for a high fantasy score. His recent game on June 3rd demonstrates his ability to contribute across multiple categories, and his projected ownership around 13% suggests the field recognizes his potential in this matchup. He provides a 2.35x value, making him a key piece for tournament lineups.
Honorable Mentions
- Jake Rogers ($2,300)
- Francisco Alvarez ($2,900)
1B Plays
Top Play: Shohei Ohtani ($6,400)
Ohtani bats leadoff for the Dodgers and provides a strong combination of power and run-scoring ability. He’s demonstrated his upside with a recent 2-homer game against the Yankees, and his dual eligibility at 1B/OF offers roster flexibility. At $6400, he presents excellent value, projecting at nearly 2x, and his high optimal percentage (16.16%) reflects his potential to be a slate-breaker.
Ohtani faces the Mets tonight, and as a left-handed batter, he’s in a favorable position to capitalize on potential mistakes. Despite a tough game on June 3rd, he delivered 16 DK points the previous night and is clearly capable of bouncing back. While his ownership is high (19.5%), his consistent production and prime lineup spot justify the investment in a tournament setting.
Honorable Mentions
- Vladimir Guerrero Jr. ($4,900)
- Pete Alonso ($5,100)
2B Plays
Top Play: Jonathan India ($3,100)
Jonathan India is in a prime position to produce tonight, batting leadoff against the Cardinals. He’s fresh off a 3-hit, 3-run performance in St. Louis, showcasing his ability to impact the game immediately. At just $3100, he provides excellent salary relief and allows you to load up on other premium bats.
India’s spot in the order guarantees maximum plate appearances, and his recent success suggests he’s seeing the ball well. He’s projected for a solid 2.4x value, making him a key piece in constructing optimal lineups, and his moderate ownership (9.3%) keeps him from being overly popular in tournaments.
Honorable Mentions
- Brooks Lee ($2,800)
- Marcus Semien ($3,000)
3B Plays
Top Play: Max Muncy ($3,800)
Max Muncy is swinging a hot bat, highlighted by his two-homer performance against the Mets just yesterday. He’s locked into the sixth spot in the Dodgers’ lineup, providing ample opportunity to drive in runs, and his $3800 salary offers a strong 2.3x value. Muncy’s demonstrated power makes him a threat to go deep in any at-bat.
Muncy’s recent game logs showcase his upside, with multiple games exceeding 15 DraftKings points, including a massive 43-point outing. His left-handed bat plays well against the Mets pitching, and he projects to be in 9.7% of optimal lineups, making him a key tournament target despite the slightly elevated 10.7% ownership.
Honorable Mentions
- Addison Barger ($3,100)
- Royce Lewis ($3,000)
SS Plays
Top Play: Carlos Correa ($3,700)
Carlos Correa hits in the heart of the Twins’ lineup, batting cleanup and seeing premium RBI opportunities. His $3700 price tag provides excellent salary relief, projecting for 2.35x value in today’s matchup against the Athletics. He’s a top-ranked shortstop option with a solid 9.0% optimal lineup appearance rate.
Correa faces a favorable matchup, and his recent game logs show flashes of his offensive potential, including a home run and multi-RBI game on May 30th. He consistently gets on base and contributes to the Twins’ run production. With a projected ownership of 12.1%, he’s a popular pick for good reason, offering a strong combination of upside and affordability.
Honorable Mentions
- Brooks Lee ($2,800)
- Bobby Witt Jr. ($5,500)

Top Play: Lawrence Butler ($4,300)
Lawrence Butler bats leadoff today, putting him in a prime position to score runs. He’s shown excellent power and speed recently, highlighted by his 31-point DK performance on June 2nd, including a home run and 3 RBIs. His $4300 salary provides significant value, especially considering his optimal lineup appearance rate of almost 15%.
Butler faces Minnesota today as a left-handed batter, and his recent production suggests he’s seeing the ball well. He’s demonstrated the ability to contribute in multiple ways, as seen in his May 30th game where he scored 21 DK points with 2 hits, 2 runs, an RBI, and a stolen base. At only around 9% projected ownership, he makes for a great tournament play.
