06/11 MLB Cheat Sheet: Top DFS Plays

We’ve got a smaller 6-game slate on tap tonight, and right away, the Giants-Rockies game at Coors Field stands out with a slate-high 10.5 total. The Yankees-Royals matchup in Kansas City also carries a decent 9-run total with the wind blowing out, so that could be another spot for some offense. Keep an eye on the Rangers-Twins game though, as there’s a real chance of a delay or even a rainout in Minneapolis.

Beyond those spots, the weather looks pretty clear elsewhere, but the Coors Field and Kansas City games are definitely where we want to focus our attention early. The wind blowing out in New York could give a slight boost to the Mets-Nationals game, but it’s not a major factor. Let’s dive into these matchups and see where we can find some value.

Top Stacks

SF 5-Man ($22,600)

Jung Hoo Lee, Willy Adames, Heliot Ramos, Wilmer Flores, Jerar Encarnacion

The SF stack presents intriguing value at 2.15 points per $1000, especially considering the appealing 10.5 game total in Denver. While the 18.1% average ownership suggests some popularity, the 16.0% optimal rate indicates they are slightly under-owned relative to their potential. This discrepancy, coupled with favorable hitting conditions, makes them a strong GPP target; the leverage is built-in, and the upside is undeniable in this matchup.

HOU 5-Man ($20,200)

Jeremy Pena, Isaac Paredes, Jose Altuve, Yainer Diaz, Christian Walker

This Houston stack, centered around Pena, Paredes, Altuve, Diaz, and Walker, presents compelling value at 2.11 points per thousand dollars. The moderate 13.8% ownership, aligning precisely with its optimal lineup rate, suggests the field isn’t aggressively targeting this combination, leaving room for leverage. With a solid 8.5 game total in a controlled, domed environment, the conditions are ripe for offensive production, and these hitters are in a prime position to exceed their projected output relative to their cost.

NYM 5-Man ($24,500)

Francisco Lindor, Brandon Nimmo, Juan Soto, Pete Alonso, Jeff McNeil

The Mets stack, headlined by Lindor, Nimmo, Soto and Alonso, presents solid value at 1.86 points per thousand. While the ownership projects around 12.7%, the 11.0% optimal rate suggests they are slightly under-owned for their win equity. With an 8.5 game total and winds blowing out at Citi Field, the conditions are ripe for offensive fireworks, making this stack a strong leverage play despite the moderate ownership.

SP Plays

Top Play: Robbie Ray ($9,300)

Robbie Ray is on a fantastic run, consistently delivering quality starts with high strikeout totals. He’s pitched at least 6 innings and struck out 7+ batters in each of his last five outings, averaging 27.3 DraftKings points per game during that stretch. His recent dominance includes two 9-strikeout performances, showcasing his ability to rack up fantasy points in bunches.

Ray faces the Rockies in Colorado, and while Coors Field is known as a hitter’s park, this matchup sets up well for Ray. The Rockies have a high strikeout rate against left-handed pitching, and Ray’s ability to miss bats should mitigate some of the Coors Field risk. At $9300, he provides strong value with a 2.1x return and appears in nearly 29% of optimal lineups.

Honorable Mentions

  • David Peterson ($8,800)
  • Jack Leiter ($7,500)

C Plays

Top Play: Yainer Diaz ($3,500)

Yainer Diaz hits in the heart of the Houston order, batting cleanup today against the White Sox. He’s shown flashes of immense power recently, highlighted by a home run and two-hit performance on June 7th. At his $3500 price point, Diaz provides a strong 2.35x value, making him an ideal tournament play with significant upside.

Diaz is projected to be in 16.6% of optimal lineups, suggesting his potential for a big night is recognized. Facing a favorable matchup against White Sox pitching, Diaz is in a prime position to deliver a strong return. His moderate ownership of 17.4% keeps him from being too chalky, making him a smart contrarian play for GPP formats.

Honorable Mentions

  • Patrick Bailey ($3,000)
  • Carlos Narvaez ($3,700)

1B Plays

Top Play: Christian Walker ($3,700)

Christian Walker is priced affordably at $3700 and projects for excellent value, sitting at 2.3x. He bats 5th for Houston and has a favorable matchup against CWS, landing him the #1 GPP rank. Walker’s presence in 15.3% of optimal lineups signals considerable upside for tournaments.

Walker’s moderate 11.1% ownership keeps him from being too chalky, offering leverage in GPPs. He provides a solid power threat in the middle of the order, and his price allows you to load up on pitching. The potential for a multi-hit game with an RBI or two is well within reach tonight.

Honorable Mentions

  • Abraham Toro ($3,400)
  • Wilmer Flores ($4,800)

2B Plays

Top Play: Jose Altuve ($4,200)

Jose Altuve hits in the heart of the Houston lineup and is in a prime spot to produce against the White Sox. Batting 3rd, he’s guaranteed premium plate appearances in a potent offense, and at his $4200 price point, he provides excellent value. Altuve already demonstrated his potential in this matchup, going 2-for-3 in their recent game, and his ability to contribute across multiple categories makes him a reliable DFS option.

Altuve’s moderate ownership of 15.3% makes him a smart play in tournaments, offering leverage against the field while still providing a solid floor. His optimal lineup percentage of 12.22% further confirms his potential to be a key contributor to winning lineups. Given his matchup, lineup position, and recent performance, Altuve is my top play at 2B/OF.

Honorable Mentions

  • Tyler Fitzgerald ($3,900)
  • Brandon Lowe ($4,900)

3B Plays

Top Play: Junior Caminero ($4,400)

Junior Caminero bats third for the Rays and offers significant upside at this price point. He’s projected for a 2.09x value return, indicating substantial potential to exceed salary expectations. Caminero also appears in nearly 16% of optimal lineups, reflecting his high ceiling in this matchup against Boston.

Caminero is facing Boston in a favorable hitting environment and is expected to be highly owned, signaling confidence in his ability to produce. His recent game logs show flashes of his potential, and batting third maximizes his opportunities for run production and RBI chances.

Honorable Mentions

  • Abraham Toro ($3,400)
  • Wilmer Flores ($4,800)

SS Plays

Top Play: Willy Adames ($4,400)

Adames slugs a home run yesterday, and now he heads into Coors Field batting second for the Giants. He’s priced at $4400, offering 2.3x value, and his recent struggles may keep his ownership down despite the advantageous matchup. The Rockies present a prime opportunity for a right-handed power hitter like Adames to capitalize on the Coors Field effect.

Adames appears in 14.4% of optimal lineups, indicating his upside in this matchup. Even with a high 21.6% projected ownership, his potential for a multi-hit game with extra-base hits in this environment makes him a top tournament play at shortstop. His ability to drive in runs from the two-hole further boosts his fantasy appeal.

Honorable Mentions

  • Jeremy Pena ($4,500)
  • Bobby Witt Jr. ($5,700)

OF Plays

Top Play: Heliot Ramos ($4,900)

Heliot Ramos bats 3rd for the Giants in Coors Field, immediately boosting his run-producing potential. He offers strong value at $4900, projecting at 2.25x, and his optimal lineup percentage of 23.9% suggests significant upside in this matchup against Colorado. Ramos is a key piece in what should be a high-scoring environment.

Ramos is expected to be 22.1% owned, indicating that many DFS players recognize the potential for a big performance tonight. His recent game logs show flashes of his ability to contribute across multiple categories, and the Coors Field effect can turn singles into extra-base hits, further elevating his ceiling. The combination of lineup spot, park factor, and reasonable salary makes him a top tournament target.

Honorable Mentions

  • Jung Hoo Lee ($5,000)
  • Jarren Duran ($4,700)
