7/24 MLB Cheat Sheet: Top DFS Plays

SP:

Nathan Eovaldi, Texas Rangers Jays (FD:$9,900 | DK:$8,800)

Gerrit Cole, New York Yankees (FD:$10,000 | DK:$9,400)

Tanner Bibee, Cleveland Guardians (FD:$9,400 | DK:$8,500)

Notes: Cole has big strikeout potential and is ranked third on the DFS Hero Optimizer tonight for SP. Bibee has pitched great lately and has a top-notch matchup against the Tigers. Eovaldi has the best matchup of all, taking on the White Sox, and the Optimizer ranks him as the number one SP tonight with the highest ceiling and optimal score.

Top Stacks:

Baltimore Orioles vs. Miami Marlins

Texas Rangers vs. Chicago White Sox

Notes: The Orioles are one of the top lineups in MLB this season. They score a ton of runs, thanks to smacking a lot of HR. They face Edward Cabrera tonight, who has a 7.36 ERA and 1.67 WHIP this season. The Rangers lineup hasn’t lived up to expectations this season, but they have a lot of star power and are in a great matchup tonight against Chris Flexen and the White Sox bullpen. Flexen has a 5.22 ERA this season with a 1.40 WHIP and allowed seven ER in his most recent outing.

C:

Jonah Heim, Texas Rangers (FD:$2,800 | DK:$3,400)

Will Smith, Los Angeles Dodgers (FD:$3,500 | DK:$5,700)

Adley Rustchman, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$3,500 | DK:$5,600)

Notes: Adley has continued where he left off before the all-star break and is one of the best options at catcher every day. Heim can be used as part of the Rangers stack, and the DFS Hero Optimizer ranks him as the third-best catcher on this slate. Will Smith is ranked as the number-one catcher on the Optimzer today. He is projecting him for the highest ceiling of any player at the C position, has the highest optimal score, and because of his price and no stack involvement, he has a good leverage score, too.

1B:

Ryan Mountcastle, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$3,000 | DK:$4,200)

Jake Burger, Miami Marlins (FD:$3,000 | DK:$3,400)

J.D Davis, New York Yankees (FD:$2,100 | DK:$3,200)

Notes: Mountcastle can be used in the Orioles stack today, and he is coming off a multi-hit effort last night. Burger is the second-ranked 1B on the DFS Hero Simulator today and is being given a 37% chance to 3X and a 29% chance to 3.5X. Davis is a platoon guy who should be in the lineup tonight against the lefty. The Simulator gives him a 34% chance to 3X.

2B:

Jordan Westburg, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$3,100 | DK:$4,800)

Marcus Semien, Texas Rangers (FD:$3,400 | DK:$5,100)

Richard Palacios, Tampa Bay Rays (FD:$2,700 | DK:$3,400)

Notes: Westburg and Palacios are ranked number three and four at the position tonight on the DFS Hero Simulator. Due to Palacios’ low cost, the simulator is giving him a 34% chance to 3X and a 26% chance to 3.5X. Semien is one of the best 2B in MLB and I like him in the Rangers stack tonight. Before you lock him in, though, check out my value plays for another Rangers 2B.

3B:

Josh Smith, Texas Rangers (FD:$3,000 | DK:$4,200)

Jose Caballero, Tampa Bay Rays (FD:$2,900 | DK:$3,600)

Notes: It’s important for me to note that Burger, whom I listed at 1B, and Westburg, whom I listed at 2B, are both eligible at 3B tonight, and the DFS Hero Simulator has them as the number one and number two ranked options at the position tonight. Caballero is ranked as the fourth-best option on the Simulator and has a 31% chance to 3X. Smith is a sneaky option because when you think about options in the Rangers stack, he isn’t considered a top option.

SS:

Corey Seager, Texas Rangers (FD:$3,600 | DK:$5,300)

Gunnar Henderson, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$4,300 | DK:$6,100)

CJ Abrams, Washington Nationals (FD:$3,500 | DK:$5,400)

Notes: SS is a pay-up position tonight. Seager and Henderson are two of the best in the business, and they can be used in my top stacks. Abrams is also expensive, but he is the number one ranked player at the position tonight on the DFS Hero Optimizer.

OF:

Shohei Ohtani, Los Angeles Dodgers (FD:$5,000 | DK:$6,600)

Adolis Garcia, Texas Rangers (FD:$3,200 | DK:$4,500)

Wyatt Langford, Texas Rangers (FD:$3,000 | DK:$4,100)

Anthony Santander, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$3,700 | DK:$4,900) 

Colton Cowser, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$2,600 | DK:$3,400) 

Notes: Ohtani is one of the top OF options anytime he is on a slate. He is also eligible at 1B if you want to use him there. The other four players can be used in my top stacks tonight. Langford and Cowsers are particularly interesting, though. The DFS Hero Simulator gives Langford a 30% chance to 3X tonight and Cowser a 33% chance to 3X.

Value Players:

SP Ryne Nelson, Arizona Diamondbacks (FD:$7,700 | DK:$6,100)

1B Nathaniel Lowe, Texas Rangers (FD:$2,800 | DK:$3,500)

2B Justin Foscure, Texas Rangers (FD:$2,000 | DK:$2,100)

OF Cedric Mullins, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$2,600 | DK:$3,500)

Notes: Nelson has pitched very well recently. He has allowed one ER or less in three of his past four starts, and he is very cheap for a SP. Lowe and Mullins are both priced well and can be used in my top stacks as a way to save money to spend at other positions. The DFS Hero Simulator gives Mullins a 35% chance to 3X tonight and a 27% chance to 3.5X. Foscue is near the minimum price on Draft Kings tonight. It is hard to pass up on using Semien in a Rangers stack, but Foscue will save you money and differentiate you from the pack.
