9/3 MLB Cheat Sheet: Top DFS Plays
September 3, 2024
Today, we have a 10-game MLB slate on DraftKings, starting at 7:07 p.m. ET. Check out my favorite players at each position, value plays, and stacks! Our partners at DFSHero.com provide us with access to their lineup optimizer and AI simulator, which we use to provide you with the best DFS plays every day!
SP:
Chris Sale, Braves (DK: $10,800 | FD: $11,600)
Luis Castillo, Mariners (DK: $9,000 | FD: $10,000)
Notes: Sale is the DFS Hero Optimizer’s top pitching play, and it’s not even close. His projection is 8 points more than the second-highest, Luis Castillo. His ownership is projected at less than 30% because Paul Skenes is pitching, and I am fading him tonight because, according to the optimizer, he doesn’t have top-five pitching value.
Stacks:
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Los Angeles Angels
Atlanta Braves vs. Colorado Rockies
Los Angeles Angels vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
Texas Rangers vs. New York Yankees
Notes: The Optimizer projects the Dodgers and Braves to be the top-scoring teams, and both have juicy matchups. With that comes increased ownership. The Angels have the top projected value with the Rangers third. These teams will have much less ownership and will allow you to afford Sale.
C:
Salvador Perez, Royals (DK: $4,800 | FD: $3,100)
Logan O’Hoppe, Angels (DK: $3,700 | FD: No Play)
Notes: Perez is the top projected catcher and O’Hoppe is fourth. I trust Perez more but O’Hoppe has much more value at his price.
1B:
Shohei Ohtani, Dodgers (DK: $7,000 | FD: $4,800)
Josh Naylor, Guardians (DK: $4,800 | FD: $3,500)
Notes: Ohtani will always be at the top of projections along with OF Aaron Judge. You can afford him if you pay down at pitching. Naylor has the top projected value among the top projected scoring first basemen.
2B:
Marcus Semien, Rangers (DK: $4,900 | FD: $3,300)
Andres Gimenez, Guardians (DK: $3,700 | FD: $2,900)
Notes: Semien is second in second base scoring projections to Michael Massey. I trust Semien more, but both are projected to have under 5% ownership. Gimenez has been hitting much better and is projected to finish just behind the two I mentioned. His ownership is projected at about 11% though.
3B:
Jose Ramirez, Guardians (DK: $6,400 | FD: $4,100)
Josh Jung, Rangers (DK: $3,800 | FD: $3,100)
Notes: Ramirez is the top projected scoring third baseman and is almost every night. Jung is projected fourth and will eventually win a tournament at this price.
SS:
Zach Neto, Angels (DK: $4,500 | FD: $3,000)
Tyler Fitzgerald, Giants (DK: $4,800 | FD: $3,400)
Notes: Both are projected to finish in the top five in shortstop scoring and have significantly more projected value than the other three, who are extremely high-priced.
OF:
Johnkensy Noel, Guardians (DK: $4,100 | FD: $3,200)
Taylor Ward, Angels (DK: $4,300 | FD: $3,000)
Jackson Chourio, Brewers (DK: $4,500 | FD: $3,200)
Teoscar Hernandez, Dodgers (DK: $4,900 | FD: $3,500)
Marcell Ozuna, Braves (DK: $5,400 | FD: $3,800)
Notes: These are the highest projected scoring outfielders in the 4 K price. Ozuna has a great matchup, and I think he hits a home run.
Value Players:
1B Niko Kavades, Angels (DK: $2,100 | FD: $2,100)
3B Gio Urshela, Braves (DK: $2,600 | FD: $2,400)
OF Mickey Moniak, Angels (DK: $2,900 | FD: $2,600)
2B Will Wagner, Blue Jays (DK: $3,000 | FD: $2,800)
OF Mike Yastrzemski, Giants (DK: $3,000 | FD: $2,800)
1B Nolan Schanuel, Angels (DK: $3,500 | FD: $2,700)
SP Andrew Heaney, Rangers (DK: $6,000 | FD: $7,400)
SP Aaron Civale, Brewers (DK: $6,300 | FD: $8,100)
Notes: These are among the top-valued players at their positions, with Kavades being the number one-valued hitter. Andrew Heaney is the fourth-most-valued pitcher on the board. I will be pairing him up with Sale in many lineups. Civale is also in the top four in value. If you pair the top-valued pitchers, you can load up on all of your bats, but you may have to sweat out some tough spots.
