The hope for tonight is that the matchup lives up to what Vegas is expecting. As the Minnesota Vikings travel to Los Angeles to take on the Rams, a high-scoring matchup is expected. We have an over/under of 48.5, with the Vikings favored by three points, so it should be close as well. Heading up to kickoff, there is a lot to follow along with from a health perspective. After not playing since Week 2, Cooper Kupp returns to the field. Additionally, it appears that Puka Nacua will also be returning. There is also the chance that T.J. Hockenson will return, so it could be a very interesting night. We have a lot to consider for Thursday’s action, so let’s jump right into some TNF DFS picks for Week 8.

TNF DFS Picks

Captain

Cooper Kupp, WR, Los Angeles Rams ($16,500 DK/$12,000 FD)

We haven’t seen Cooper Kupp on the field since Week 2, and now it’s possible this could be his last game with the Rams. He is returning to the sound of trade rumors, but that doesn’t change his value for this week. Puka Nacua also might return, but I’d expect his workload to be slightly more limited than Kupp’s. Regardless, there should be enough targets available for both as the Rams look to keep up with the Vikings passing attack in what figures to be a high-scoring game.

Sam Darnold, QB, Minnesota Vikings ($14,100 DK/$14,000 FD)

The Vikings are expected to score around 24 points tonight, so that means Sam Darnold figures to be busy. Overall, it has been a strong season for Darnold in his first year with the Vikings. It was really just one game against the Jets where he struggled, but otherwise, the results have been there. In each of the first four weeks of the season, Darnold had multiple touchdown passes as he continues to look downfield. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have Justin Jefferson as your number-one target.

Flex Plays

Justin Jefferson, WR, Minnesota Vikings ($11,800 DK/$16,000 FD)

Justin Jefferson has played in six games this season, and he has touchdowns in five of them. The Rams offer up a favorable matchup tonight for Jefferson to continue his success. He is averaging 88.5 yards per game on 51 targets, and he is just one big play away from success.

Aaron Jones, RB, Minnesota Vikings ($9,600 DK/$12,000 FD)

Following a full practice on Wednesday, there doesn’t appear to be any cause for concern with Aaron Jones’ health. Last week, he gained 93 yards on 14 carries, so we can feel confident about moving forward with Jones. There are two weeks in which Jones combined for 61 rushing yards, but in his other four games, he rushed for between 93 and 102 yards. His 20 receptions also reflect a role in the passing game, which helps to provide a few extra points of production.

Kyren Williams, RB, Los Angeles Rams ($11,200 DK/$15,500 FD)

Despite the presence of Blake Corum and him picking up some additional playing time, the Rams’ backfield still belongs to Kyren Williams. This isn’t going away, as Williams has at least 18 carries in each of the last four weeks with a minimum of 76 yards. There hasn’t been a week in which he hasn’t rushed for a touchdown, nine overall, and that trend likely will continue. The Rams are healthier from a wide receiver perspective, so there is some cause for concern, but they will need to establish the run game.

Matthew Stafford, QB, Los Angeles Rams ($9,000 DK/$13,500 FD)

The return of Nacua, along with Kupp, does change things for Matthew Stafford. Seeing him throw for just three touchdowns this season does generate some concern, but he hasn’t been working with his top targets. He is averaging 232 passing yards per game, and that number should only surge tonight with his weapons back in the fold.

Value Plays

Colby Parkinson, TE, Los Angeles Rams ($4,400 DK/$8,000 FD)

We have seen Colby Parkinson benefit from some of the wide receiver injuries the Rams have dealt with, but he is still looking for his first touchdown of the season. Previously, he was targeted 20 times over a two-week span and proved capable of the workload. Tonight’s return of Kupp and Nacua could open things up for Parkinson over the middle, and it could result in his first touchdown of the season.

Fade

Tutu Atwell, WR, Los Angeles Rams ($4,200 DK/

Seeing Tutu Atwell be targeted 19 times in the past two weeks is going to be enticing. That has translated into six receptions per game, but now Kupp and Nacua are back. Atwell very easily could maintain a solid role or bust off a big play, but my confidence is waning.

TNF Prop Bets

Colby Parkinson Anytime Touchdown (+330 on DK)

Admittedly, there is some level of risk here since Parkinson has yet to catch a touchdown pass this season. We now have Kupp returning with the potential of Nacua returning as well. The focus of the Vikings will be on the receivers, and the Rams should be better at moving the ball down the field more, so let’s look for the tight end to find pay dirt.

Cooper Kupp Anytime Touchdown (+140 on DK)

Kupp’s reputation precedes him, and we know that Stafford will be looking his way. We get plus money here on Kupp as he makes his return, so let’s capitalize.

Matthew Stafford Over 242.5 Passing Yards (-115 on DK)

We are only asking Stafford to pass for 11 more yards than his season average. The big difference here now is that Kupp and potentially Nacua are back on the field. If he can do with Atwell and Parkinson,

Stafford can do with Kupp.

Kyren Williams Over 74.5 Passing Yards (-110 on DK)

Even with Kupp back, the Rams will look to establish the run game. Williams will have more room to run and he is averaging 76 yards per game over his last four.

T.J. Hockenson Over 26.5 Receiving Yards (-110 on DK)

If T.J. Hockenson does make his return tonight, even if it is in a limited role, this is a relatively low burden to eclipse for the talented tight end.
