Game Plan shows how the winning lineups of a tournament differ from the field. Pick a tournament, such as the DraftKings NFL Spy, and DFS Hero reads every lineup of every past contest of it. You see how the winners, the top 0.1%, the top 1%, the top 10%, and the cashing lineups built their rosters, beside the field of the same contests. A difference that holds from slate to slate is marked as an edge or a fade. On Power, you can apply an edge to your build or save it to a playbook.
Film Room studies your own play, and Scouting studies another player. Game Plan studies a tournament over time.
Open Game Plan
- Click Game Plan in the top bar.
- On a phone, open the avatar drawer and tap Game Plan.
- Press Cmd+K on a Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows, type Game Plan, and pick it under Navigate.
- In a slate's Contests panel or in the Contest Analyzer, click Study this tournament (the target icon). It opens the report of that contest's tournament. See Pick a tournament.
What each plan includes
| Part of Game Plan | Essential | Power |
|---|---|---|
| Featured reports: the main-slate tournament of each sport in season, with every finish group, section, and contest | Yes | Yes |
| The tournament list and search, on both sites and both formats | No. The search box shows a lock that opens the Full Game Plan panel | Yes |
| Every other report | No | Yes |
| The filter menus on a report | No | Yes |
| Save, up to 20 reports, with a notification when new contests land | No | Yes |
| The short version, the AI summary of a report | No | Yes |
| Apply to my build and Save to a playbook | No | Yes |
| Hero Chat on the Game Plan page | Reads the featured reports | Reads every report. In a slate's workspace, it can apply an edge to your build after you confirm |
| A connected AI agent | No (agents are part of Power) | Finds tournaments, reads reports, saves and removes reports, and saves a row to a playbook |
On Essential, a link to a report past the featured list opens a page that says This report needs the Power plan.
Where the numbers come from
Game Plan reads the final standings that DFS Hero saves for its contest results, the same standings that Film Room, Scouting, and the Contest Analyzer read. Each saved board holds every lineup of the contest and its final place.
- DraftKings since December 1, 2025. Older DraftKings boards hold results only, with no rosters.
- FanDuel since October 2, 2026. FanDuel reports hold a short window for now.
- Fields of 500 or more. In a smaller field, the top 0.1% and the top 1% hold only a few lineups.
- Tournaments only. A report leaves out cash games (double ups, multipliers, and boosters), head-to-heads, leagues, satellites and qualifiers, winner-take-alls, freerolls, one-stat games, preseason contests, and video-game contests.
- Slates DFS Hero lists. A contest counts only when it sits on a slate you can build for in DFS Hero.
- New contests. A contest shows some hours after its games end, when DFS Hero saves its final standings and reads them.
While DFS Hero reads older boards, a line at the top of the page gives the count of boards left. Until that line goes away, every total can still grow.
The words Game Plan uses
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Tournament | All the contests that share one name on a site, sport, and format, such as the DraftKings NFL Spy. A report reads every contest of it. |
| The field | Every lineup in the same contests. |
| Finish group | Winners (first place, ties included), Top 0.1%, Top 1%, Top 10%, or Cash (the lineup won more than its fee). |
| Band | One row of a measure, such as Under $4,000 in TE salary. |
| Lift | How often the group holds the band, over how often the field holds it in the same contests. x1.33 means 33% more often than the field. x1 is even. |
| Steady edge | The group holds the band more than the field, on enough slates that the lift does not depend on one or two of them. |
| Steady fade | The group holds the band less than the field, by the same test. |
| Within noise | The gap can come from the luck of a few slates. It is no reason to change a build. |
| Thin sample | Fewer than 20 of the group's lineups, or fewer than 4 slates, hold the band. The row gets no verdict. |
| Field ROI | What every lineup in the band won over what it paid, minus 1. It reads the whole field, so a thin group still has one. |
See Read a measure for how DFS Hero decides each verdict.
Common questions
Why is a tournament missing from the list? A tournament lists once it has contests on at least 4 slates, since a report under 4 slates marks no row. Fields under 500, cash games, and the other formats under "Where the numbers come from" never count.
Why does a report show fewer contests than I expected? The report counts only contests with a field of 500 or more, on DFS Hero slates, since the start dates above. A filter on the report can also narrow it.
Does Game Plan show my own lineups? A You column shows your own share of each band when you have lineups in the report's contests. DFS Hero finds them in the entries files you upload and under your saved site username. See Read a measure.
