FREE 7/1 MLB Cheat Sheet: Top DFS Plays
July 1, 2024

Today, we have a 3-game MLB slate on DraftKings, starting at 3:07 p.m. ET. Check out my favorite players at each position, value plays, and stacks! Our partners at DFSHero.com provide us with access to their lineup optimizer and AI simulator, which we use to provide you with the best DFS plays every day!
SP:
MacKenzie Gore, Nationals (DK: $9,800 | FD: $9,800)
Hunter Brown, Astros (DK: $8,500 | FD: $9,300)
David Peterson, Mets (DK: $7,300 | FD: $8,600)
Notes: The DFS Hero Optimizer projects Gore as the highest-scoring pitcher but also the highest-owned pitcher. I agree, as I think Gore could have that 20-plus point night, which could dominate what I think will be a high-scoring short slate. The Optimizer has Peterson projected as the best value.
Stacks:
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Colorado Rockies
Colorado Rockies vs. Milwaukee Brewers
Notes: I feel like most games will be high-scoring at Coors Field, especially in the meat of summer. Rockies SP Austin Gomber has been dreadful and the DFS Hero Optimizer projects the Brewers will score 6.21 runs with the Rockies at 5.26. It is highly likely that you will need the right stacks from this game to win. I am going to try one lineup with Brewer SP Bryse Wilson in it, along with Astros and Blue Jay stacks, to be ultra contrarian in the $18 entry – $50K first prize tournament.
C:
Yainer Diaz, Astros (DK: $4,100 | FD: $2,900)
Alejandro Kirk, Blue Jays (DK: $2,500 | FD: $2,100)
Notes: The Optimizer has Kirk projected as the most valued catcher and his price allows you to pay up elsewhere. Brewer’s Willson Contreras is priced at a whopping $6,500, which is too much for me. Diaz has been hitting much better over his last 10 games but is projected to be highly owned.
1B:
Rhys Hoskins, Brewers (DK: $4,600 | FD: $3,500)
Vladimir Guerrero Jr., (DK: $4,400 | FD: $3,300)
Notes: Hoskins is in a great spot and is priced under 5K. The Optimizer agrees and projects Hoskins as the top-scoring first basemen. Guerrero Jr. is my pivot play for less ownership.
2B:
Jose Altuve, Astros (DK: $5,300 | FD: $3,800)
Brendan Rodgers, Rockies (DK: $3,700 | FD: $3,000)
Notes: Altuve was ejected yesterday as a ball he hit off his foot was deemed fair. Look for Altuve to be charged up and focused today. Rodgers is cheap and has averaged 13 points over his last 6 home games.
3B:
Alex Bregman, Astros (DK: $4,200 | FD: $3,100)
Mark Vientos, Mets (DK: $3,500 | FD: $3,100)
Notes: Bregman offers top two projected value according to the optimizer. Vientos has 7 double-digit games out of his last 10. A must-play in lineups that do not have MacKenzie Gore pitching.
SS:
Bo Bichette, Blue Jays (DK: $4,300 | FD: $2,700)
Jeremy Pena, Astros (DK: $3,900 | FD: $3,000)
Notes: I am pivoting away from Willy Adames and Ezequiel Tover, who will both have high ownership. Instead, I am hoping one or both Bichette and Pena can hit a homer tonight.
OF:
Yordan Alvarez, Astros (DK: $5,700 | FD: $4,100)
Nolan Jones, Rockies (DK: $4,800 | FD: $3,100)
Jackson Chourio, Brewers (DK: $3,500 | FD: $3,400)
Jake Meyers, Astros (DK: $3,200 | FD: $2,700)
Notes: Yordan is in a great spot, and he is one of those guys I think will hit a home run. I like Chourio, but he is going to be extremely high owned which is why I like Meyers as a lower-owned pivot.
