July 6, 2024

Today, we have an 8-game MLB slate on DraftKings, starting at 4 p.m. ET. Check out my favorite players at each position, value plays, and stacks! Our partners at DFSHero.com provide us access to their lineup optimizer and AI simulator, which we use to provide you with the best DFS plays daily!
SP:
- Garrett Crochet, Chicago White Sox (FD:$11,500 | DK:$10,400)
- Cade Povich, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$7,600 | DK:$7,200)
- Andrew Heaney, Texas Rangers (FD:$8,100 | DK:$6,900)
Notes: These are the top three pitchers ranked on the DFS Hero Optimizer. I love Crochet and Povich, especially today, as they are in elite matchups. Crochet is an elite pitcher against a Marlins offense that ranks 29th in MLB in runs per game and 30th in OBP and SLG. Povich gets the A’s, 28th in runs per game and OBP and 29th in AVG.
Top Stacks:
- Baltimore Orioles vs. Oakland Athletics
- Cincinnati Reds vs. Detroit Tigers
Notes: The Orioles are one of the top teams in MLB, and they face Luis Medina today, who has a 4.80 ERA and 1.47 WHIP. They should be one of the highest-scoring teams on this slate. The Reds are at home in the Great American “Small Park” and face Tigers SP Matt Manning, who has allowed four ER or more in three of his past four starts and has a 4.88 ERA and 1.55 WHIP this season.
C:
- Adley Rutschman, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$3,600 | DK:$5,400)
- Tyler Stephenson, Cincinnati Reds (FD:$2,600 | DK:$3,400)
- Cal Raleigh, Seattle Mariners (FD:$2,800 | DK:$4,400)
Notes: Adley and Stephenson can be used in my top stacks today, but Adley is also one of the best-hitting catchers in the league. The DFS Hero Optimizer loves Raleigh today. He is rated their top catcher on this slate, with a 15% optimal percentage and the highest leverage number.
1B:
- Ryan Mountcastle, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$3,200 | DK:$4,100)
- Spencer Steer, Cincinnati Reds (FD:$3,300 | DK:$4,900)
- Spencer Horwitz, Toronto Blue Jays (FD:$2,800 | DK:$3,900)
Notes: Mountcastle is a nice option for the Orioles stack, although he isn’t one of their best hitters. Steer has been hitting much better lately. His ownership % on the DFS Hero Simulator is projected to be under 3%, and he has a 22% chance to 3X. Horwitz is the second-best 1B option on the Simulator today, with a 28% chance to 3X and a 20% chance to 3.5X. Jeimer Candelario is also a great option in the Reds stack.
2B:
- Jordan Westburg, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$3,300 | DK:$5,200)
- Jonathan India, Cincinnati Reds (FD:$3,200 | DK:$4,100)
- Nolan Gorman, St. Louis Cardinals (FD:$2,800 | DK:$4,000)
Notes: Westburg has been one of the better hitters in the Orioles lineup, so he should always be considered when stacking O’s. India has been on fire lately, and the DFS Hero Simulator gives him a 32% chance of being 3X today. Gorman is somewhat of an all-or-nothing play. He will go 0-4 with three strikeouts, or he will have three hits, two of them for extra bases and three RBI. The Simulator gives him a 20% to 3.5X.
3B:
- Noelvi Marte, Cincinnati Reds (FD:$2,800 | DK:$3,800)
- Isaac Paredes, Tampa Bay Rays (FD:$3,500 | DK:$4,400)
- Nolan Arenado, St. Louis Cardinals (FD:$2,700 | DK:$4,300)
Notes: Marte is among the more interesting players in the Reds stack today. The DFS Hero Optimizer likes Paredes a lot today, ranking him as the second-best player at 3B today with a 48% win percentage. Arenado is ranked as the fifth most optimal player on the Optimizer today and has a 44% win percentage.
SS:
- Gunnar Henderson, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$4,300 | DK:$6,600)
- Elly De La Cruz, Cincinnati Reds (FD:$4,400 | DK:$6,400)
- Jose Caballero, Tampa Bay Rays (FD:$2,800 | DK:$3,600)
Notes: Henderson and Elly are expensive today but worth it because they’re in my top stacks and two of the most dynamic players in the league. Caballero is the third-ranked SS on the DFS Hero Optimizer today. He has one of the highest leverage scores and a 10% optimal percentage.
OF:
- Anthony Santander, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$3,500 | DK:$4,900)
- Ryan O’Hearn, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$3,100 | DK:$4,200)
- Matt Vierling, Detroit Tigers (FD:$3,100 | DK:$4,000)
- Wyatt Langford, Texas Rangers (FD:$3,200 | DK:$3,900)
- Jorge Soler, San Francisco Giants (FD:$3,000 | DK:$4,300)
Notes: Santander and O’Hearn are two solid options in the Orioles stack, although I have a value OF below that can also be used in the O’s stack. Vierling is the second-rated OF on the DFS Hero Simulator and has a 33% chance to 3X today. Langford has been excellent for the Rangers since returning from the IL, has a 27% chance to 3X, and is projected to have an ownership percentage of under 3%. According to the Simulator, Soler is given the highest ceiling out of the top 15 OFs on this slate and has a 29% chance to 3X.
Value Players:
- 2B Colt Keith, Detroit Tigers (FD:$2,700 | DK:$3,000)
- OF Heston Kjerstad, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$2,600 | DK:$3,500)
Notes: Keith is a favorite of the DFS Hero Simulator today. He has a 43% chance to 3X and a 29% chance to 4X. Kjerstad is ranked fourth on the DFS Hero simulator for OF today and has a 34% chance to 3X.
