July 9, 2024

Today, we have an 11-game MLB slate on DraftKings, starting at 7:10 p.m. ET. Check out my favorite players at each position, value plays, and stacks! Our partners at DFSHero.com provide us with access to their lineup optimizer and AI simulator, which we use to provide you with the best DFS plays every day!
SP:
Zac Gallen, Diamondbacks (DK: $8,900 | FD: $9,700)
Nick Lodolo, Reds (DK: $8,800 | FD: $10,500)
Bailey Ober, Twins (DK: $8,700 | FD: No Play)
Notes: It’s difficult to fade Chris Sale in any situation, but I think his price is just too expensive on a big slate. Lodolo and Gallen are projected to be the second and third most-valued pitchers, according to the DFS Hero Optimizer. Ober has a great matchup vs. a light-hitting White Sox team and has 25-point potential if he keeps the ball in the park.
Stacks:
Boston Red Sox vs. Oakland Athletics
Milwaukee Brewer vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
Oakland Athletics vs. Boston Red Sox
Notes: The optimizer is predicting fireworks at Fenway tonight as they project the Red Sox to score the most runs while projecting the Athletics to be the most valued stack. Meanwhile, the Brewers face SP Quinn Priester, who is coming off the IL tonight. I plan on stacking most of their left-handed hitters.
C:
Cal Raleigh, Mariners (DK: $4,400 | FD: $2,900)
Connor Wong, Red Sox (DK: $3,900 | D: $2,800)
Notes: The Optimizer projects Raleigh to have the most points at catcher, giving him solid value. Wong has been a great surprise this year and is a solid price break for a player on a team projected to score over 5 runs.
1B:
Spencer Steer, Reds (DK: $5,000 | FD: $3,500)
Notes: I think the best value is at first base tonight, but the Optimizer does project Steer to lead all first basemen in scoring.
2B:
Brice Turang, Brewers (DK: $4,900 | FD: $3,200)
Marcus Semien, Rangers (DK: $4,800 | FD: $3,400)
Notes: The simulator projects Semien as the top-scoring second baseman vs. SP Roansy Contreras. I like Turang because I think he gets at least one hit, steals a bag, and scores.
3B:
Rafael Devers, Red Sox (DK: $6,200 | FD: $4,000)
Alex Bregman, Astros (DK: $4,200 | FD: $3,200)
Notes: The Optimizer projects both to be the top-scoring third basemen. Devers has a higher ceiling, but Bregman has a better-projected value.
SS:
Corey Seager, Rangers (DK: $5,000 | FD: $3,700)
Willy Adames, Brewers (DK: $4,500 | FD: $3,100)
Notes: Seager has been on fire, hitting home runs in two consecutive games. Adames is in a great spot to produce runs.
OF:
Christian Yelich, Brewers (DK: $6,000 | FD: $4,000)
Tyler O’Neill, Red Sox (DK: $5,300 | FD: $3,400)
Adolis Garcia, Rangers (DK: $4,500 | FD: $3,200)
Alec Burleson, Cardinals (DK: $4,300 | FD: $2,700)
Wyatt Langford, Rangers (DK: $3,900 | FD: $3,000)
Notes: Burleson should be priced near 5K the way he has been playing. The Optimizer projects the other 4 to be top 10 in outfield scoring. Watch for Langford to shoot up in price over the next two weeks.
Value Players:
3B Brooks Lee, Twins (DK: $3,000 | FD: $2,800)
OF Matt Wallner, Twins (DK: $3,100 | FD: $2,400)
1B Tyler Soderstrom, Athletics (DK: $3,100 | FD: $2,500)
OF Garrett Mitchell. Brewers (DK: $3,300 | FD: $2,400)
1B Rowdy Tellez, Pirates (DK: $3,300 | FD: $2,800)
OF Lars Nootbar, Cardinals (DK: $3,500 | FD: $3,000)
SP Colin Rea, Brewers (DK: $7,400 | FD: $8,000)
SP Blake Snell, Padres (DK: $7,800 | FD: $7,600)
Notes: As I have mentioned in previous articles, Lee is a huge bargain right now as a Twin’s top prospect. He reminds me of Red’s infielder, Matt McLain. Wallner was just called back up and homered and doubled last night. He was smashing the ball in AAA. Mitchell is much better than his .176 average. He will get into winning lineups soon, much like I told you Twin’s third baseman Jose Miranda would. Nootbar is always a wild card but does have some pop and can steal a bag. I love both first basemen, especially Rowdy returning to Milwaukee. Rea just gets the job done. He has 20-plus points in 4 of his last 5 starts. Snell is coming off IL, but this price is just too cheap for a strikeout pitcher of his ilk.
