The Worlds tournament is officially here! Thursday starts the Swiss Stage of the tournament, which brings 8 different best of 1 games pitting teams all around world against each other. I am using the tools found on 

 to identify the best plays for this slate.

Just like with other DFS sports, LoL has specific build types that tend to be more successful over a long period of time. In these breakdowns, top stacks is what will be discussed the most. If you are new to LoL, I recommend reading the strategy article that DFS Hero provides, 

Because it is best of 1s instead of best of 3s or 5s, scoring for this slate will be less consistent than normal LoL slates. Also, each team is coming in with different levels of preparation. For example, most of the LCK teams stayed in Korea and scrimmaged against other LCK teams, but most of the western teams have been in Europe for a while. It will be hard to be completely correct on all predictions, and I fully expect at least 1 upset to happen tomorrow, it’s just about being on the right one. This breakdown is going to be a little different than normal because there are 8 games to break down. There will be some notes about each game, but at the end I will focus on top stacks for tomorrow instead of top captains. With that being said, here we go!

 We have a banger of a game right out the gates. I am super excited that this is the first one and I will mostly be able to watch this one. BLG is LPL’s #1 seed and has a championship roster to match their championship aspirations. Meanwhile, MDK is LEC’s last seed and had to go through the play-ins just to get to this stage. As such, the odds for this game make perfect sense. BLG should win this game easily, and I don’t think MDK has much they can say about it. The one potential downfall for BLG is that they have not played a stage game yet at this tournament and MDK has already played a few. That should not be enough of a reason for an upset to come. BLG should win this game, and I will be targeting 4 stacks of them because of their bloody playstyle and desire to kill their opponents over and over. The one downside is that they are the most expensive stack, so your secondary stacks need to be cheaper in order to fit them in.

TES got a rough draw for game 1. T1 is LCK’s last seed, but they are still the reigning champions. TES is LPL’s 2nd seeded team. Both of these teams could easily win it all, and this game should be pretty close in the end. However, I will not really be targeting this game. T1 plays really slowly and tries to out macro their opponents, which can lead to a very low scoring game. TES does try to push the pace sometimes, but might not find the routes into team fights this game, so this is mostly a stay away. TES is currently favored, and are a little cheaper than T1, so they could be a good pay down secondary stack if you want some shares of them.

 Another rough draw for the LPL as their 4th seeded WBG takes on 2nd seed GenG from the LCK. GenG should take this game handily as their only slip up this whole year was in the finals of the LCK. However, they are still a little more expensive of a stack that I would like for a game that is still kinda tight. I might get 1 or 2 shares of GenG, but it is not an area that I am prioritizing. WBG has the talent to win this game, so if you want a spot to get different, this could be one. I will not be personally getting there much, though.

The odds for this game are currently a lot tighter than I thought they would be. FNC is LEC’s 2nd seeded team, while DK is LCK’s 3rd seeded team. Even if FNC is a “higher seed,” the disparity between the west (FNC) and the east (DK) is still very real and DK should win this game. This is a game I would not mind targeting both sides. FNC has the potential to be a really good team, and DK has times where they struggle in games, and in best of 1s, anything can happen. I will still have more DK than FNC, and Aiming (ADC) in particular will be my target. Aiming’s play style is very resource heavy, and in games that DK wins, he tends to have very high kill scores.

TL (LCS #2) has looked really good this entire split, but this is a different challenge than what they normally face. LNG (LPL #3) has major talent on their roster and could potentially make some noise in this tournament. LNG, however, plays more like an LCK team than an LPL team, favoring objectives and map control over fighting the other team. As such, I get to this team less than others with the same odds to win. Selfishly, I want TL to win, but I don’t recommend getting many shares of them for this contest.

Another game I will not have too much of, I fully expect HLE (LCK #1) to take care of business

in this game. PSG is a team from a minor region, and even though they have talent, beating HLE is a very tall task for them. HLE is not a super fast paced team, which means not many fpts for this stack. Could be a nice place to get different, but I will not have too many of them. The shares I do have will mostly have Zeka and Viper, the teams’ two major carries. I will have almost none of PSG.

I hope you are still with me because this one of the games that I will have a ton of! FLY (LCS #1) somehow squeaked out a first place finish in the North American region, and was rewarded with what should be a super fun matchup. Both teams have no problem fighting over any and every objective, which should make it a super bloody game. This should mean an abundance of fpts to go around, and while I will have more FLY stacks, I will have no problem taking a few shots on GAM as well. FLY should absolutely win this game with no issues, but like I said, it is best of 1s, and NA 1st seeds don’t have a great reputation at worlds.

This is the other game that I will be targeting heavily. PNG should be stoked that they actually made it to worlds because CBLoL doesn’t make it to worlds that often. G2 (LEC#1) should be stoked to pull this matchup because it is an easier win than they would have gotten otherwise. CBLoL is known for its bloody play style, which I will also be targeting this game tomorrow. I will have less PNG, though, than I would have of GAM because I think the odds make a ton of sense for this game. G2 can play through every single player on their team, so it could be a good spot to fill in JNG and Top laners as some other teams leave them on an island and they don’t get too many points.
