FREE 8/3 MLB Cheat Sheet: Top DFS Plays
August 3, 2024

Today, we have a 10-game MLB slate on DraftKings, starting at 7:05 p.m. ET. Check out my favorite players at each position, value plays, and stacks! Our partners at DFSHero.com provide us access to their lineup optimizer and AI simulator, which we use to provide you with the best DFS plays daily!
SP:
Jack Flaherty, Los Angeles Dodgers (FD:$10,500 | DK:$9,800)
Hunter Greene, Cincinnati Reds (FD:$10,800 | DK:$8,700)
Bailey Ober, Minnesota Twins (FD:$10,000 | DK:$8,400)
Notes: All three pitchers have been pitching well and are in excellent matchups today. Unsurprisingly, they are the number one, third, and fourth-ranked SP on the DFS Hero Optimizer today.
Top Stacks:
Baltimore Orioles vs. Cleveland Guardians
San Diego Padres vs. Colorado Rockies
Notes: The Orioles are facing Joey Cantillo today, who is only pitching because Tanner Bibee is missing his start. Cantillo has only made one appearance this season, which came last week. He allowed three ER and two HR in 3.1 innings while walking three. The Orioles, one of baseball’s best lineups, should tee off. The Padres are expected to face Rockies SP Tanner Gordon tonight, who has made three appearances this season, and they’ve all been a disaster. Gordon has allowed 15 ER in 15.1 innings and has given up six long balls.
C:
Logan O’Hoppe, Los Angeles Angels (FD:$3,000 | DK:$4,200)
Adley Rustchman, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$3,200 | DK:$5,600)
Kyle Higashioka, San Diego Padres (FD:$2,800 | DK:$3,300)
Notes: Adley is one of the best catchers in the league, so if you are considering an Orioles stack, you will want to look his way tonight. According to the DFS Hero Optimizer, Higashioka and O’Hoppe are two of the more optimal catchers tonight. Higgy can be used in the Padres stack, and O’Hoppe, one of the better offensive catchers in baseball right now, will face lefty David Peterson, which is a platoon advantage for him.
1B:
Shohei Ohtani, Los Angeles Dodgers (FD:$4,800 | DK:$6,700)
Jake Cronenworth, San Diego Padres (FD:$2,800 | DK:$4,400)
Ryan Mountcastle, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$3,000 | DK:$4,400)
Notes: I’m sure you’re not surprised to see Ohtani listed here. He is the best hitter in the National League, and like he is tonight, he is usually the number one 1B on the DFS Hero Optimizer. The Optimizer gives Mountcastle a good leverage score tonight and has Cronenworth as the number three ranked 1B option.
2B:
Jackson Holiday, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$2,500 | DK:$3,100)
Xander Bogaerts, San Diego Padres (FD:$3,000 | DK:$4,200)
Notes: Holiday is the top prospect in MLB and can be used cheaply in the Orioles stack. Bogaerts was recently activated off the IL after missing most of the season. He had his 10-game hitting streak snapped last night, but this matchup today against Gordon and the Rockies should get him back on track. The DFS Hero Simulator gives Bogaerts a 26% chance to 3X tonight.
3B:
Manny Machado, San Diego Padres (FD:$3,300 | DK:$5,000)
Coby Mayo, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$2,300 | DK:$2,000)
Notes: Coby Mayo is a top-five prospect in MLB, and he is minimum-priced on DK. The DFS Hero Simulator gives him a 42% chance to 4X tonight and a 32% chance to 5X tonight. Those are the highest percentages I have seen on the Simulator all season. This is probably the last day that you will be able to get Mayo for this cheap, so take advantage. With Machado, he is the fourth-ranked 3B on the Simulator today and has a 25% to 3X.
SS:
Gunnar Henderson, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$4,400 | DK:$6,000)
Ha-Seong Kim, San Diego Padres (FD:$3,100 | DK:$4,100)
Xavier Edwards, Miami Marlins (FD:$3,100 | DK:$4,100)
Notes: Henderson is the second-ranked SS on the DFS Hero Optimizer tonight. Kim is a good option if you want to stack Padres, and Edwards has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball over the last week. The Optimizer also likes Ceddanne Rafaela tonight, and you can use him either at SS or in the OF.
OF:
Jurickson Profar, San Diego Padres (FD:$3,600 | DK:$4,800)
Anthony Santander, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$4,000 | DK:$5,400)
Jackson Merill, San Diego Padres (FD:$2,700 | DK:$4,300)
Colton Cowser, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$3,200 | DK:$4,200)
Eloy Jimenez, Baltimore Orioles (FD:$2,800 | DK:$3,300)
Notes: These are my favorite OF options in my stacks tonight. Outside of my stacks, the Simulator likes Yordan Alvarez, Jorge Soler, Kevin Pillar, and Josh Lowe tonight. Regarding my favorite OF, Eloy Jimenez could be the sneakiest pick. He is facing a lefty, so he should be in the lineup. The Simulator gives him a 38% chance to 3X and a 30% chance to 3.5X.
Value Players:
OF Jeff McNeil, New York Mets (FD:$2,800 | DK:$3,500)
1B Justin Turner, Seattle Mariners (FD:$2,600 | DK:$3,100)
2B Gavin Lux, Los Angeles Dodgers (FD:$2,800 | DK:$3,200)
Notes: McNeil has been hitting well lately, and the Mets are on a roll. He can be used at 2B if you want to go that way. Turner is already batting in the clean-up spot with his new team, and the Simulator is giving him a 39% chance to 3X tonight. Lux has been on fire lately, too, and Draft Kings still hasn’t bumped up his price much. The Simulator gives Lux a 36% chance to 3X tonight.
