FREE 10/31 NFL TNF Cheat Sheet: Top DFS Plays
October 31, 2024

Cayenne pepper and water for all. We need to practice patience, and will that be the elixir that turns the season around for Aaron Rodgers and the Jets? To say that it has been difficult through the first eight weeks of the season would be an understatement. Perhaps a new kicker will help New York tonight, as Greg Zuerlein has cost the Jets a few games this year. Houston has their own set of issues with Stefon Diggs and Nico Collins sidelined with injuries. We have an over/under of 42.5, with the Jets favored by 2.5 points, so it should be close with a modest amount of offense. We have a lot to consider for Thursday’s action, so let’s jump right into some TNF DFS picks for Week 9.
TNF DFS Picks
Captain
Tank Dell, WR, Houston Texans ($13,800 DK/$12,000 FD)
For this week, Tank Dell is the last man standing in Houston’s receiving tree. With both Diggs and Collins out, Dell will be asked to step into a leading role tonight against the Jets. While he will have to deal with Sauce Gardner, the cornerback’s performance this season hasn’t necessarily been elite.
Last year, we saw what Dell is capable of, but this year, he has been utilized in more of a supplementary role. He has been efficient, though, catching 24 of 28 targets for 229 yards and two touchdowns. This week, Dell will receive all the volume he can handle.
Joe Mixon, RB, Houston Texans ($16,500 DK/$16,500 FD)
For as high as anyone could have been on the Texans’ addition of Joe Mixon this offseason, I’m not sure this could even have been expected. Mixon has greater than 100 rushing yards in each of his four full games this season, along with at least one touchdown. Over the last two weeks, Mixon has carried the ball 25 times, and Houston will continue to treat him as a true number-one running back.
Flex Plays
Breece Hall, RB, New York Jets ($10,400 DK/$14,500 FD)
Despite their record, the Jets have an overabundance of weapons on offense. Even though Braelon Allen has been taking on a larger role as of late, Breece Hall is still the main cog in New York’s offense. Without hyperbole, the Jets’ season is on the line tonight, so it would make sense for them to lean on Hall.
Whether it’s on the ground or through the air, the Jets simply need to get the ball into Hall’s hands. What we really need to happen, though, is for Hall to put the receiving and rushing parts of his game together in the same week. After picking up 103 receiving yards two weeks ago, Hall was only targeted three times last week, but he gained 80 yards on 16 carries. Controlling the game will be important here, and Hall gives the Jets the best chance to do that.
Garrett Wilson, WR, New York Jets ($9,600 DK/$13,500 FD)
With 17 targets in the last two weeks, it’s not like Garrett Wilson has been lacking for targets, but Allen Lazard being out tonight helps in that regard. The problem, though, is that Wilson was only able to turn that into 10 receptions for 174 yards.
Even despite the bumps, Wilson does appear to be establishing some chemistry with Rodgers. In three of his last four games, Wilson has at least 101 receiving yards.
Davante Adams, WR, New York Jets ($9,800 DK/$10,500 FD)
The chemistry between Davante Adams and Rodgers goes without saying, but through two weeks, that hasn’t exactly translated to results. After catching four of his six targets for 54 yards last week, the hope is that Adams is shaking off his rust and adjusting to life in New York. We know that Rodgers won’t stop looking his way, and Adams is too talented.
CJ Stroud, QB, Houston Texans ($10,000 DK/$15,000 FD)
Even though Hasson Reddick is now back on the field, this is a defense that CJ Stroud should be able to handle. He is without his top two receivers, but he still has Mixon, Dell, and a few other reasonable options. Using Mixon to control the tempo of the game to open up the field for Stroud should be helpful.
Dalton Schultz, TE, Houston Texans ($7,000 DK/$8,000 FD)
We have previously seen Dalton Schultz carve out a solid role with the Texans, but the emergence of Collins and Dell, along with the acquisition of Diggs, has cut into that. Now, with two of the receivers out of the way, Schultz should come back to the forefront. This is a solid spot for him to catch his first touchdown of the season after he caught four of his six targets for 54 yards last week.
Value Plays
Xavier Hutchinson, WR, Houston Texans ($4,000 DK/$10,000 FD)
Someone has to step from a receiver perspective for Houston, and Xavier Hutchinson is as good an option as any. With just five receptions for 64 yards on the season, the results haven’t been there but Hutchinson has been on the field for at least 60% of snaps for three of the last four weeks.
Robert Woods, WR, Houston Texans ($3,000 DK/$7,000 FD)
It’s good timing for Robert Woods to return after he missed two games with a knee injury. After catching two passes for 18 passes last week, Woods is in a position to take on a larger role.
Fade
Aaron Rodgers, QB, New York Jets ($9,000 DK/$13,000 FD)
The pieces are in place for Aaron Rodgers to be successful, but for multiple reasons, it hasn’t occurred yet to this point. There are drives in which Rodgers has shown what he’s capable of, but trusting him is difficult.
TNF Prop Bets
Dalton Schultz Anytime Touchdown (+300 on DraftKings)
We haven’t seen Dalton Schultz find the end zone this season, but he has five touchdown receptions in each of the last two years, with eight in the year prior. With Collins and Diggs out of the picture, Schultz is in a good position to fill the void.
Robert Woods Anytime Touchdown (+550 on DraftKings)
If you want to get a little crazy, we could see a resurgence from Robert Woods tonight. He returned from him is knee injury to catch two passes for 18 yards last week, but his role will expand tonight. There’s a track of success here, and the opportunity is there.
Breece Hall 70+ Rushing Yards (-105 on DraftKings)
Surprisingly enough, Hall has only hit this mark twice this season, but the need and potential is there. Hall rushed for 80 yards last week, and for the Jets to be successful, they will Hall to exert his will on the ground.
Tank Dell 60+ Receiving Yards (+100 on DraftKings
Between Dell’s ability and the targets up for grabs in Houston’s offense, this should be an easily attainable number for him to hit. We know that all of Collins’ and Diggs’ production will not go to Dell, but enough of it will for him to break the 60-yard mark.
Dalton Schultz 40+ Receiving Yards (-130 on DraftKings)
Considering Schultz had 54 receiving yards last week, this could be a conservative target, as Stroud will have a comfort level with his tight end.
