Sim scenarios

Last updated Oct 13, 2026

A scenario is one contest in the Contest Simulation sheet. One run can hold several: a 10,000-entry GPP, the 2,000-entry GPP you plan to enter, and a double up. Each gets its own band in the lineups panel, so you compare contests side by side in one run.

Before you start

Step by step

  1. Open the lineups panel and click Simulate (or Re-Simulate).
  2. Click Add scenario at the top of the rail. The new scenario starts as a copy of the default GPP, so it reads Same as Sim 1 until you change it.
  3. Open Prefill from Contest and pick the contest for this scenario. Confirm that the size, fee, and payouts match the contest.
  4. Repeat for every contest you want to compare.

  1. Rename, reorder, Duplicate scenario, or Remove scenario as needed.
  2. Click Run N Simulations.

  1. Read the panel. Each scenario has its own band with its ROI badge, its own picker, and its own selected lineups under it.

Controls that change the result

ControlWhat it does
Add scenarioAdds a scenario with the default economics. Disabled when an entries file sets the scenarios.
Move scenario up / Move scenario downReorders the rail.
Duplicate scenarioCopies the selected scenario. Change one field to test one variable.
Remove scenarioDeletes it with an Undo toast. Disabled on the last scenario.
Scenario picker on the bandFills that contest by its own method. See Select and rank after a sim.

How it works

Every scenario is a separate simulation over the same pool, with its own field and payout ladder.

The pool-wide numbers come from one scenario: the one with the largest Contest Size, or the first of them on a tie. The Pool tab ranks by those numbers. A cloud build uses the same rule.

The panel's Entries Preview count becomes the total of My Entries across your scenarios once the sim runs. Three scenarios with 20, 20, and 1 lock the count at 41. Each band then selects its own share from the pool with its own picker.

Re-Simulate runs every scenario in the list again over the current pool. A scenario you removed keeps its last results until you run again.

Two scenarios with identical settings return identical numbers, so the rail marks them Same as <name>. A run sims at most 50 scenarios. Past 50, it sims the contest with the largest field, then the contests with the most money entered; the others fill without a sim of their own.

Compare a large GPP to a small one

  1. Keep Sim 1 at 10,000 entries.
  2. Add a scenario, click the 2K chip under Contest Size, and leave the payouts.
  3. Run both. The small field shows higher Win and Top 1% for the same lineups, and the Top 0.1% cell may disappear because a 2,000-entry field has only 2 places in its top 0.1%.
  4. Open the Pool tab. Every card lists both scenarios, so you see which lineups hold up in both fields and which only work in one.

Tips

  • Name scenarios by what they test: Milly, Small GPP, Double up.
  • Put the contest you will really enter first. Its band is the first you read, and its picker fills the most entries.
  • Add a cash scenario to every run. A lineup with a high Top 1% and a low Cash% is a boom-or-bust build.
  • Upload your entries file before you sim. You get a scenario per contest for free.

Troubleshooting

"Same settings as <name>. The simulation is deterministic, so this scenario will produce identical results. Change its contest size, entry fee or payouts to test something different." : change one field or remove the scenario.

"Scenario removed" with Undo : click Undo in the toast to bring it back.

A scenario row reads "failed" in the loader : that scenario's sim did not finish. The others still land. Check the scenario and click Re-Simulate.
