Simulate takes a pool you already built and scores it against one or more contests. It runs from the lineups panel on any slate and takes about a minute. When it finishes, every lineup carries sim metrics and the panel picks a sim-based Selection for you.
Before you start
- Build a pool first. See Your first build.
- Know the contest you plan to enter. The sheet can prefill its size, fee, and payouts. See Find contests.
- If you uploaded an entries CSV, the scenarios are already set from your contests. See Upload your entries.
Step by step
- Open the slate and click the LINEUPS rail on the right edge of the workspace.
- Click Simulate in the panel footer.
- Read the Contest Simulation sheet. It opens with one scenario, Sim 1, a 10,000-entry, 150-max GPP with a $10 fee, with 150 of your lineups entered. With an entries file on the slate, it opens with one scenario per contest you entered.
- Change the scenario or keep the defaults. See Contest Simulation settings.
- Click Run Simulation. With more than one scenario the button reads Run N Simulations.
- Keep the page open until every scenario finishes. Cancel simulations stops the run and keeps every scenario that already finished.
- Read the results. The panel reveals every scenario at once when the last one finishes.
What changes when it finishes
| Where | What you see |
|---|---|
| Footer button | Re-Simulate. Click it to run every scenario again over the same pool. |
| Entries Preview count | Locks to the total of My Entries across your scenarios, or to the entries file. |
| Footer, with an entries file | A Fill N button, so you can fill your entries from the simulated working set. |
| Selection | Lands on Win Paths, a method that needs a sim. Rank by hides while Win Paths is active. |
| Scenario band | One band per scenario with its ROI, plus a picker that fills that contest by its own method. A contest's band shows its entry count. A scenario without a contest shows its field size and fee. A wider panel adds the Top 1%, or Win% for a contest of 100 entries or fewer. |
| Lineup cards | A signed ROI in the header, and Win%, Top 0.1%, Top 1%, Top 5%, Cash%, and Lev in the bottom row. On a card in Entries Preview, Paths takes the place of Lev when the sim of its contest or scenario tracked Win Paths. Leaders get a badge such as Best Ceiling. |
| Pool tab | One row per scenario on every card, ranked by ROI. With two or more scenarios, a contest picker beside Rank by names the contest that ranks the Pool. |
How it works
Every scenario is a separate simulation over the same pool. The result is saved with your build, so it follows you to another device and survives a reload. Re-Simulate replaces the results of every scenario in the list.
Tips
- Run the default 10K GPP first to see the shape of your pool, then prefill the real contest and run again.
- Read the % to 1st chip before you run. A GPP with 20% or more to 1st rewards ceiling. A cash game rewards floor.
- A large pool against a large field takes the longest. Leave time before lock.
- After the run, switch Selection to Highest Ranked to bring Rank by back and sort by any metric.
- If you edit projections or trash lineups, click Re-Simulate. The numbers belong to the pool as it was when it ran.
Troubleshooting
"Simulation failed. Your lineups are still here." : the sim step of a Build & Sim run failed. Open the lineups panel and click Simulate.
""<scenario>" sim results didn't save" or "N sims' results didn't save" : click Re-Simulate.
"Simulation issue" : one scenario was dropped during the run. The toast names the reason. Fix the scenario in the sheet and run again.
"Couldn't start the sim. Try again in a moment." or "Couldn't run the sim. Try again in a moment." : wait a few seconds and click Simulate again.
"Sim result was not delivered" or "Sim result arrived incomplete" : the result did not reach your browser. Click Re-Simulate.
"This simulation is too large for the server path (N lineups, limit 10000). Reduce the lineup count." : rebuild with 10,000 lineups or fewer.
"You already have N server builds running. Wait for one to finish, then try again." : Essential runs up to 2 cloud builds at once. Power runs up to 4. Wait for one to finish.
