Two controls in the Entries Preview header decide which lineups leave your pool and in what order: Selection picks the working set, and Rank by orders it. A sim unlocks Win Paths and ten more Rank by metrics. When the sim lands, DFS Hero switches Selection to Win Paths and Rank by to Top 1%. You can change both at any time.
Before you start
- Run a sim. Without one the Win Paths item is disabled. See Run your first sim.
- The pre-sim methods are covered in Selection methods and Rank by options.
Selection
Click the Selection dropdown under the Entries Preview tab.
| Method | What it does | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Highest Ranked | The top N lineups by the current Rank by. | 1 to 3 entries, ranked by ROI. |
| Min Uniques | Keeps a lineup only when it differs from every kept lineup by N or more players, then fills the rest with the next best. | When selected lineups look alike. |
| Win Paths | Picks the set of lineups that crack the top 1% in as many different simulated plays as possible. | GPPs of any size, 20 or more entries. |
| Balanced Exposure | Matches each player's exposure in the working set to how often your pool uses him. Works without a sim. | Cash games, or before a sim. |
Win Paths is diversity by outcome, not by roster. Two lineups that win the same plays add nothing to each other, even if they share no players. When the sim recorded no such plays, the band reads No sim coverage data, using ROI and the panel falls back to the top N by ROI.
Rank by
The Rank by control sits to the right of Selection. It hides while Win Paths is active and returns when you pick another method.
| Item | Available | Sorts by |
|---|---|---|
| Projection, Ownership | Always | The summed value |
| Actual | Past slates with scores | Real points |
| ROI | After a sim | Expected return per $1 |
| Win Prob | After a sim | Probability of 1st |
| Top 0.1%, Top 1%, Top 5% | After a sim; Top 0.1% needs a contest above 100 entries | Probability of that finish |
| Cash Prob | After a sim | Probability of being paid |
| Leverage | After a sim | Field ownership minus lineup ownership |
| Ceiling / Floor | After a sim | 95th or 25th percentile score |
| GeoMean | After a sim | Geometric mean score |
The Pool tab has its own Rank by with the same list, and it defaults to ROI after a sim.
The per-scenario picker
Each scenario band carries its own dropdown, to the right of the ROI badge. It starts on Follow Selection. Pick a method under OR CHOOSE FOR THIS CONTEST, and its Rank by, to fill that contest from the full pool by that method. The override stays when you change the panel's Selection, so a cash scenario can fill by Highest Ranked with Rank by Cash Prob while a GPP fills by Win Paths.
How it works
The defaults follow the pool's state. A fresh Build Only lands on Balanced Exposure ranked by Projection. A sim lands on Win Paths and Top 1%. A method you picked by hand survives a Re-Simulate.
Tips
- Switch to Highest Ranked with ROI when you enter 1 to 3 lineups. Win Paths shines when you enter 20 or more.
- If two selected lineups look alike, add Min Uniques in the band picker for that contest.
Troubleshooting
"WIN PATHS · RUN A SIM FIRST" : click Simulate.
"WIN PATHS · THIS SIM RECORDED NO WIN PATHS" : no lineup reached the band in any play. Use Highest Ranked or Balanced Exposure, or widen the pool and re-simulate.
"No sim coverage data, using ROI" : Win Paths fell back on that band. The band shows the top N by ROI.
"No sim data yet, Balanced Exposure ranked by projection" : a band on a pool with no sim. Run one.
"Not enough lineups meet the uniques bar, rest backfilled" : Min Uniques could not find enough lineups that differ by N players. Lower N or build a larger pool.
