The Min/Max tab

Last updated Oct 1, 2026

The Min/Max tab limits how many players a single lineup can draw from one team or one game. Use it to force game stacks, to keep a lineup from loading up on one blowout, or to guarantee a player from a game you like. The tab appears for team sports in classic slates only.

Before you start

Step by step

  1. Click Build in the workspace toolbar.
  2. Click the Min/Max tab.
  3. Set Max Players Per Team if you want a cap lower than the site allows.
  4. Under General Per Team, pick Min and Max. These apply to every team.
  5. Turn on Individual Teams to override the general values for single teams.
  6. Turn on Individual Games to set a min and max per game.
  7. Click Build in the footer.

How it works

The per-team cap is a ceiling you can only tighten. It starts at the most players the site allows from one team: the roster size minus 1, or fewer when the site's rules say so. On DraftKings classic that is 8 for NFL, 7 for NBA, CFB, and CBB, 7 for NHL (skaters from at least 3 teams), 6 for soccer (at least 3 teams), 6 for MLB with at most 5 hitters, 5 for WNBA, and 4 for LOL. FanDuel classic allows 4 (5 for MLB). The per-site ceilings are in Sport rules by sport.

A per-team minimum forces the optimizer to include that many players from the team in every lineup. A per-game minimum does the same for the game, on either side. Set a game minimum of 3 and a team minimum of 0 to force a game stack without deciding which side carries it.

Every lineup must also satisfy the site's roster rules, such as a minimum of 2 games on DraftKings classic and 3 teams on FanDuel classic. A per-team maximum that makes those rules impossible produces a build error that names the team or game.

The General Per Team min applies to each team a lineup uses. A lineup must use at least 2 teams on DraftKings classic (3 for NHL and soccer) and 3 teams on FanDuel classic, so the min stops at the roster size divided by that count, rounded down. That is 4 on DraftKings NFL and 3 on FanDuel NBA.

A min the build cannot meet shows in an error state, with a line under it that gives the most the build can meet. A min can get there from a setting saved before this limit, or when you lower Max Players Per Team or a max below it.

Tips

  • Use a per-game minimum of 2 or 3 on a high-total game to force a game stack, then let the Stacks tab shape the positions.
  • Set a per-team max of 1 on a team you expect to be a blowout victim. The optimizer can still take its best player.

Troubleshooting

"Couldn't build lineups" with a named team or game : the combination of minimums, maximums, and roster size has no valid lineup. Lower the minimum, raise the maximum, or remove the override for that row, then rebuild.

"General min 5 cannot build here. The most is 3." : the min is above what the build can meet. A row min names its team or game in place of General. Lower the min to the number the line gives, or raise the max that holds it down, then rebuild.

"Couldn't build a valid lineup with these settings. Your locks, filters, stacks, or salary range may be too strict for this slate. Loosen them and rebuild." : the same cause when the optimizer cannot name one row. Turn off Individual Teams and Individual Games, rebuild, then add overrides back one at a time.
