The Exposure tab

Last updated Sep 24, 2026

The Exposure tab sets a build-wide ceiling and floor on how often any one player appears across the pool. A cap of 40% means no player is in more than 40% of the lineups. Use it when you want a wide, balanced pool instead of one that leans on the same five players.

Before you start

Step by step

  1. Click Build in the workspace toolbar.
  2. Click the Exposure tab.

  1. Type a value in Max Exposure %, or drag the slider. 40 is a common starting point for a large-field GPP.
  2. Under By position, type a cap in a position field to cap only that position. An empty field uses the Max Exposure % value, shown as its placeholder.
  3. Type a value in Min Exposure % only if you want a floor.
  4. Click Advanced under either card for the two extra options.
  5. Under Apply Exposure To, pick My Pool, Filtered, or All.
  6. Check the Active: strip to confirm the limit applies to the next build, then click Build.

Every control

ControlWhat it doesDefault
Max Exposure %The highest share of the pool any one player can appear in.100
By positionOne field per roster position, 1 to 100. A value caps every player at that position. An empty field uses Max Exposure %.Empty
Clear cap / Clear N capsEmpties every position field. Shown only while a position has a value.
Divide between players (Max)Spreads the cap so the pool is shared across more players instead of a few players all sitting at the cap.Off
Auto-set for players above ownership %Applies the cap only to players projected above an ownership threshold. Players below it keep their own per-player cap.Off
Min Exposure %The lowest share of the pool every eligible player must appear in.0
Divide between players (Min)Spreads the floor across the eligible players.Off
Auto-set for players below ownership %Applies the floor only to players projected below an ownership threshold.Off
Apply Exposure ToWhich players get the value. My Pool is every player not excluded. Filtered is only the players visible under the grid filters when you click Build. All adds excluded players. My Pool

How it works

The cap and the floor are enforced while the optimizer generates lineups. A capped build still returns the count you asked for unless the pool runs out of valid combinations.

The value on this tab and the per-player Max Exp column in the Player Pool are the same setting seen from two places. Set Max Exposure % to 40 and every player it applies to gets 40 in their Max Exp cell. A per-player edit in the grid then wins for that player. A locked player is in every lineup, so a lock overrides the cap.

By position

A position cap is Max Exposure % for one position. Set QB to 30 and every quarterback gets 30 in their Max Exp cell, while the other positions keep the card's value. The fields are the slate's roster positions: an NFL slate shows QB, RB, WR, TE, and DST, and an NFL showdown adds K. A flex slot adds no field, because a flex player is capped through their own position. The rules are the same as the card's value:

  • A per-player edit in the grid wins over the position cap, higher or lower, 100 included.
  • A player listed at two or more positions takes the lowest of their caps. A PG/SG player under PG 50 and Max Exposure % 30 gets 30, because SG has no value and uses the card's 30.
  • Apply Exposure To decides which players the position caps touch, the same as the card's value.
  • A position cap shows in the Active: strip as, for example, QB Max 30%, and it rides with the build tab and with a playbook.

Why a player can show more than the cap after a build

The cap applies to the pool. After the build, the Exposure column counts only the lineups your Selection picked for Entries Preview, so a player capped at 40% of the pool can still sit in 60% of your entries. The Pool column shows the share the cap enforced. See Player exposure after a build.

Tips

  • For a large-field GPP, start at 40% to 50% max exposure with Smart Randomness on.
  • For cash games or small fields, leave the cap at 100.
  • Use Auto-set for players above ownership % with a threshold around 25 to cap only the chalk while leaving low-owned players free.
  • Cap one position instead of the whole pool. QB 50 on an NFL slate spreads your quarterbacks across a 150-lineup set and leaves every other position free.
  • A min exposure floor across many players makes the build slow and can be impossible to satisfy. Use it on a handful of players through the grid instead.

Troubleshooting

"Exposure floors not fully met" : the pool ran out of valid lineups before every floored player reached the floor. Lower Min Exposure % or raise the lineup count, then rebuild.

"Built {n} of {m} lineups" : a tight cap combined with a small player pool limits how many unique lineups exist. Raise Max Exposure %, reduce excluded players, or lower the lineup count.
