The entries CSV connects DFS Hero to the contests you entered on DraftKings or FanDuel. Each row is one contest entry you already paid for. DFS Hero fills those rows with lineups from your build and hands the file back to you for upload.
Before you start
- Enter your contests on DraftKings or FanDuel first. The file only lists entries that exist on the site.
- Open the matching slate in DFS Hero. See Open and manage slate tabs.
- A DraftKings file only uploads to a DraftKings slate, and a FanDuel file only to a FanDuel slate.
Get the file from the site
Open the slate, click the entries button in the workspace toolbar, and click Download entries from DraftKings or Download entries from FanDuel under the drop zone.
DraftKings
- Click Download entries from DraftKings. DraftKings sends the CSV for this slate at once.
- Sign in to DraftKings if the site asks you to.
- Save the file. Do not open it in a spreadsheet and save it again. A spreadsheet can change the ids and the quotes.
FanDuel
- Click Download entries from FanDuel. FanDuel has no direct CSV link, so this opens the FanDuel upcoming contests page.
- On that page, download the CSV for your entries in the slate. On a phone, FanDuel shows its CSV button only in landscape.
- Save the file without editing it.
What the file contains
The file has two parts: your entries and the site's player list. DFS Hero needs both, so never trim the file.
DraftKings file shape
- The header row is
Entry ID, Contest Name, Contest ID, Entry Fee, then one column per roster slot (for NFL:QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, FLEX, DST), thenInstructions. - One row per entry. A blank entry has empty roster cells. A prefilled entry shows
Player Name (12345678)in each cell. - The player list sits to the right of the entry rows.
FanDuel file shape
- The header row is
entry_id, contest_id, contest_name, entry_fee, then one column per roster slot, thenInstructions. - One row per entry. FanDuel can write short rows that hold only the id, name, and fee cells. DFS Hero pads them on export.
- The player list follows a blank line.
- A FanDuel player id is a pair, for example
104711-82440: the slate, then the player.
What the file does not contain
The file carries only the contest id, the contest name, and the entry fee. It carries no field size, prize pool, or payout ladder. When DFS Hero does not know a contest, it asks you for the type, the field size, and the payout structure after the upload. See Upload your entries.
How DFS Hero reads the file
- A file without both an entry id column and a contest id column is refused.
- A roster header such as
CPT,MVP, orSTARmarks a showdown file. The slate itself decides the stored format. - A dotted id such as
nfl.p.30977marks a Yahoo file. DFS Hero refuses Yahoo files. - One file holds up to 10,000 entries. Split a larger file by contest and upload each part.
Tips
- Download the file after you finish entering contests, so every entry is in it. A later entry needs a new download and a Replace in DFS Hero.
- Keep the file as the site wrote it. A re-saved spreadsheet is the most common cause of an upload refusal.
- If you already filled entries on the site, the download holds those lineups. DFS Hero keeps them until you fill again.
- On a captain slate, DraftKings issues a second id for the captain seat. Your own download supplies those ids.
Troubleshooting
"Could not find Entry ID column in CSV headers" / "Could not find Contest ID column in CSV headers" : the header row is missing a required column. Download the file again from the site without editing it.
"CSV file must contain at least a header row and one data row" : the file is empty. Enter at least one contest on the site, then download again.
"No contest entries found in CSV" : none of the rows is an entry. Check that you downloaded the entries file and not a player list.
"This looks like a Yahoo entries CSV. Yahoo is not a supported site" : DFS Hero supports DraftKings and FanDuel only.
