Export writes the lineups your saved entries hold back into the file you downloaded from DraftKings. It never changes the entries. DraftKings reads it the same way it reads its own edit file, so an upload there replaces the lineups in every entry the file names. Export once the entries are filled, and again after every change you want on the site.
Before you start
- Upload the entries CSV and fill the entries. See Upload your entries and Contest Setup and Fill.
- Check the footer of the lineups panel. Synced means the saved entries match this build's preview.
- For a showdown slate, wait until the captain ids are in. They arrive about a day before lock. See Showdown and single-game slates.
Step by step
- Click the entries button in the workspace toolbar.
- Optional: switch on Open DraftKings after export to open the DraftKings upload page in a new tab after every export.
- Click Export.
- When your saved entries differ from this build's preview, the dialog Export your saved entries? asks first. Click Export as saved to download the entries as they are. Click Fill, then export to write the preview into your entries and then download them. Click Cancel to download nothing.
After the first game starts, an entry whose lineup holds a started player exports as saved, with no question. The Export button in the Swap sheet always downloads your saved entries, so it never undoes a swap.
5. Save the file. Its name is entries-draftkings-<sport>-<slate id>-filled.csv.
6. Read the toasts. A warning names rows that DraftKings would reject or lineups that repeat. An error means nothing was downloaded.
7. Upload the file on the DraftKings lineup upload page and check the entries in your DraftKings lineups list.
Back in DFS Hero, the slate on the Day View shows a Download button that re-downloads the same file. After Fill, then export, the footer reads Synced.
An export pauses Live Sync so your uploaded file stays true. A later change to the build shows Paused after export · and Fill N entries in the footer. Press Fill to write the change and start Live Sync again, then export and upload again.
Every control
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Export (entries popover) | Runs the export checks and downloads your saved entries. Disabled at 0 filled when no build exists to fill from. |
| Open DraftKings after export | Opens the DraftKings upload page in a new tab after each export. Off by default. |
| Download Contest Entries (lineups panel more menu) | The same export. |
| Download (Day View) | Appears once at least one entry holds a lineup. Downloads the filled file for that slate. |
The more menu also holds Download Entries Preview, Download Entries Preview (Detailed), and Download Pool (Detailed). Those download lineups without your entry ids and are not the file you upload to DraftKings. See Export lineups without entries.
How it works
The export checks
- Saved or preview. When Live Sync keeps this build's entries synced, a change that is still saving lands first. When the saved entries still differ from this build's preview, the dialog Export your saved entries? opens. It says how many saved entries differ and names the swaps and the other builds' lineups that a Fill would replace. Choose Fill, then export or Export as saved. Closing the dialog downloads nothing. Past the slate's first lock on a slate without late swap, no fill runs and the export downloads your saved entries.
- Site rules. Each filled row is checked against the DraftKings roster rules: duplicate players, roster size, seat counts, the salary cap, the per-team cap, the team floor, and the game floor. A row that DraftKings would reject is exported as you uploaded it, and the toast DraftKings would reject N of these lineups names the first reason.
- Empty file and missing ids. An export with no filled row, or with a seated player who has no DraftKings id, stops with a toast.
- Repeats. When the file repeats lineups, a warning names the count of distinct lineups. The export still runs.
- Download. The file downloads with your saved entries. The export pauses Live Sync, so your entries stay as they are until you press Fill or Fill, then export.
The file shape
- The header row and the player list stay as DraftKings wrote them. Only the roster cells of filled entry rows change.
- Each filled roster cell holds the player's name and DraftKings id in the DraftKings format, for example
Josh Allen (34712354). - On a captain roster, the CPT cell holds the captain id, which differs from the same player's UTIL id.
- A row that the site rules refused keeps the cells DraftKings wrote.
Before you upload, confirm that every entry row you expect has a lineup and that the file still holds the player list to the right of the entries.
On the DraftKings side
DraftKings applies each row to the entry with that Entry ID. The file must come from your own DraftKings download for the slate. A file with ids from another source fails with Editing of non-DFS source lineups is not supported. For a contest without late swap, DraftKings locks every player at the contest lock. DraftKings accepts a new empty entry after lock only in Late Draft contests and only while two or more games have not started; DFS Hero does not check this for you.
Tips
- Leave Open DraftKings after export on when you export more than once per slate.
- Read the repeat warning. A GPP with repeated lineups gives up equity. Build more lineups, lower Min Uniques, fill again, then export again.
- After lock, stop exporting fills. Use the Swap sheet, then Apply & Download, and upload that file. See Run a late swap.
- Keep the exported file until DraftKings confirms the upload. The Day View Download button re-downloads it at any time.
Troubleshooting
"DraftKings would reject N of these lineups" / "<reason> Those rows exported as you uploaded them." : a lineup breaks a DraftKings roster rule. Fix the pool or the caps, fill again, and export again.
"No lineups to export" / "Every entry is blank or its lineup was refused by the site rules. Nothing was downloaded." : fill first.
"Export blocked: some players have no site player id" : fill again from a build on this slate. On a captain slate, reload closer to lock.
"Export blocked: the generated file did not match your entries. Refresh and retry." : reload the page and export again.
"This file repeats lineups: N distinct lineup(s) across M filled entries." : expected only when Duplicates allows it. Otherwise build more lineups or lower Min Uniques, fill again, then export again.
"Your browser blocked the DraftKings tab." : click Open DraftKings in the toast.
"Exported your saved entries." / "Your lineups are still updating; the file holds the last fill." : the file holds the last saved fill, not the allocation still computing.
"Your lineups are still updating." / "Retry the export in a moment. Nothing was downloaded." : wait, then export again.
"Entries are still out of sync. No file was downloaded." : retry once the fill completes.
"Your entries changed on the server and the refresh failed. Retry the export." : export again.
"Export failed" / "No CSV was downloaded. Check your connection and try again." : try again.
