What is Scouting

Last updated Oct 25, 2026

Scouting shows how another DFS player plays. Open one of the featured pros, or look up any DraftKings or FanDuel username, and DFS Hero shows the contests that name entered since October 2. You see what the name spent and won, how often it finished in the top 1%, and how its lineups differ from the field and from the top 1% of the same contests. Save up to 10 names to your watchlist, open one slate to see the whole player pool and the best lineup, and ask for a comparison with your own play.

Open Scouting

  • Click Scouting in the top bar.
  • On a phone, open the avatar drawer and tap Scouting.
  • Press Cmd+K on a Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows, type Scouting, and pick it under Navigate.

The page opens on the list: the search box, Your watchlist, and Featured pros. See Find and save pros.

On Essential, the search box shows a lock. Click it to see what the Full Scouting report adds and how to upgrade. A featured pro's card does not open a report. A report link opens a page that says The full report is part of Power, and its Full report button shows the same panel.

Where the numbers come from

Scouting reads the final standings that DFS Hero saves for its contest results. These are the same standings that Film Room and the Contest Analyzer read. DFS Hero saves the final standings of nearly every FanDuel contest, nearly every DraftKings contest with 1,000 or more entries, and nearly every contest in an entries file that a DFS Hero user uploads. A smaller DraftKings contest can be missing. A private league is never in Scouting, because its standings are not public.

  • Since October 2. Scouting holds the contests that start on October 2, 2026 or later.
  • Tracked contests only. Every total reads "in N tracked contests". It is not the name's full bankroll, because the name can play contests that DFS Hero does not save.
  • Each site on its own. DraftKings and FanDuel have different contests, scoring, and fields, so no screen adds them together. A featured pro has a DraftKings name, a FanDuel name, or both, and the DK and FD switch shows one site at a time. A name you type belongs to the site where it played.
  • New contests. A contest shows some hours after its games end, when DFS Hero saves its final standings and reads them.

While DFS Hero reads older contests, a line at the top of the page says how many contest boards are left: "DFS Hero is still reading the contest boards since October 2." Until that line goes away, every total can still grow.

The words Scouting uses

TermWhat it means
The fieldEvery entry in the same contests.
The top 1%The entries that finished in the top 1% of the same contests. A contest with fewer than 100 entries has no top 1% group.
MultipleA count of finishes over the count that the same number of random entries in the same contests would reach. 1.34x in Top 1% means 34% more top 1% finishes than random entries. Above 1.00x beats a random entry.
Tracked contestA contest whose final standings DFS Hero saved.
TakedownFirst place in a tournament of 100 or more entries that paid the entry $100 or more. Satellites, head-to-heads, cash games, and winner-take-alls never count.

Common questions

Why does a name show "No tracked contests since October 2"? DFS Hero found the name in no saved contest since October 2. Check the spelling against the site. Case does not matter. The name can also play only contests that DFS Hero does not save, such as small DraftKings contests or private leagues.

Why do a pro's DraftKings and FanDuel numbers differ so much? Each site counts on its own. A pro can play large tournaments on one site and small contests on the other.

Does Scouting show my own contests? Your own results are in Film Room. Scouting compares the pro with you in Get the scout's take. See Compare a pro with your play and Film Room.
