The lineup count is the number field in the footer of Build Settings, next to Build. It sets how many lineups the optimizer makes: the pool. The pool is larger than the number of lineups you play, and the lineups panel selects your entries from it. Essential builds up to 500 lineups per build. Power builds up to 10,000.
Before you start
- Open the sheet with Build. See Build Settings overview.
- Know your plan. See Plans: Essential and Power.
Step by step
- In the footer of the Settings sheet, click the number in the lineup count field.
- Type a count, then press Enter or click away. A value above your cap becomes the cap.
- For a shortcut, click the arrow in the field and pick a count from 150 to 10,000. On Essential the list ends at 500.
- Click Build.
A new build tab starts at your plan's cap: 500 on Essential, 10,000 on Power.
How it works
Pool and Entries Preview
Two numbers work together. The footer count is the pool: every lineup the build makes. Entries Preview on the Basic tab is the working set: how many of those the lineups panel picks for you, using the active Selection method. With an entries file uploaded, Entries Preview equals the number of entries in the file.
A bigger pool gives the Selection more to choose from. Balanced Exposure spreads your entries across players in proportion to how often the pool uses them. The Win Paths selections after a sim look for lineups that win in different simulated outcomes. Both work better from a pool of thousands than from a pool of 20. See Selection methods.
Time and limits
Larger pools take longer to build and to simulate, so leave more time before lock. Power runs up to 4 builds at once. Essential runs up to 2.
Exposure caps, stacks, group rules, and Min Unique Players are enforced while the pool is generated. A strict combination can leave fewer valid lineups than you asked for. The build then returns what exists and tells you.
Tips
- Build 1,000 to 3,000 lineups for a 20 to 150 entry GPP. The Selection then has real choice.
- Build 20 to 150 for cash games. A large pool adds nothing when you play one lineup.
- Match Entries Preview to what you will enter, not to the pool size.
Troubleshooting
"Built {n} of {m} lineups" : the pool ran out of valid lineups under your settings. The message names the cause, for example "The pool ran out of unique lineups under these settings." Lower Min Unique Players, raise Max Exposure %, or reduce excluded players, then rebuild.
"Couldn't start the build" with "This build requests {n} lineups, but your plan supports up to {m} per build. Upgrade to Power for a higher per-build cap." : the count is above your plan's cap. Lower it, or upgrade.
"Couldn't start the build" with "You already have {n} server builds running. Wait for one to finish, then try again." : you hit the concurrent build limit. Wait for a running build to land.
"Loading your plan limits." : the sheet has not yet read your cap. The count field unlocks in a moment.
