The Selection dropdown decides which lineups from the pool become your entries. Change the method and DFS Hero re-picks Entries Preview at once, without a rebuild.
Before you start
- You need a finished build with the lineups panel open. See The lineups panel.
- Win Paths needs a simulation. See Run your first sim.
Change the Selection
- Open the Entries Preview tab.
- Click the Selection dropdown.
- Pick a method.
- For Min Uniques, hover the item to open the submenu and pick the number of unique players.
Every option
| Option | What it picks | Needs a sim |
|---|---|---|
| Highest Ranked | The N best by the Rank by metric. | No |
| Min Uniques | Lineups that each differ by N or more players, from 2 unique players up to the roster size. | No |
| Win Paths | Lineups that crack the top 1% in as many different sim outcomes as possible. | Yes |
| Balanced Exposure | Lineups that match each player's exposure to how often your pool uses them. | No |
How it works
Highest Ranked takes the top N lineups by the Rank by metric. Those lineups can share most of their players, so it suits cash games and small entry counts.
Min Uniques walks the pool in Rank by order and keeps a lineup only when it differs from every kept lineup by at least N players. When the pool runs out of such lineups, DFS Hero backfills to your count and shows N of M meet K uniques, rest backfilled. The build-time rule with the same idea is Min Unique Players on the Basic tab of Build Settings.
Win Paths reads the simulation. Every simulated contest is one outcome, and a lineup that finished in the top 1% of an outcome owns that win path. Win Paths picks the set of lineups that together cover the most distinct top 1% outcomes. The method diversifies by outcome, not by player overlap. The Rank by dropdown hides while Win Paths is active because the method sets the order itself.
Balanced Exposure pulls each player's share of Entries Preview toward the player's share of the whole pool. If a player is in 60% of the pool, the method aims for about 60% of your entries. Ties break by the Rank by metric.
Defaults
A Build Only build lands on Balanced Exposure with Rank by Projection. A simulation switches the Selection to Win Paths. A method you picked yourself survives a re-simulation.
Match my entries
With an entries file uploaded, the count is locked to the file's entry count and each contest gets its own FILL FROM picker. Its first row, Follow Selection, follows the Selection and Rank by you set here. The rows under Or choose for this contest let one contest pick a different method and its own Rank by. See Contest setup and fill.
Tips
- Multi-entry tournaments of any size: run a sim and use Win Paths.
- Cash games and single entry: use Highest Ranked.
Troubleshooting
"N of M meet K uniques, rest backfilled" : the pool does not hold enough lineups that differ by K players. Lower the number of unique players, or rebuild with a larger count.
"No sim coverage data, using ROI" : the simulation recorded no win paths, so Win Paths fell back to ROI order. Re-simulate with a larger contest, or use Balanced Exposure.
"No sim data yet, Balanced Exposure ranked by projection" : an information line, not an error. Run a sim to rank by a sim metric.
Win Paths is disabled : no simulation has run on this build. Click Simulate in the panel footer.
