Hero Chat has a few hard limits that keep replies fast and keep every change in your hands.
Both plans. Hero Chat runs on Essential and Power. Essential has 5 new messages a day, and Power features stay on Power: saving a Playbook, Playbook Replay, Hero Insights, the full Hero IQ read, and builds above 500 lineups. Power has higher limits. Without an active subscription, the chat button does not appear.
The limits
| Limit | Value | What you see |
|---|---|---|
| Daily messages (Essential) | 5 new messages a day, counted from midnight ET. Power has higher limits. | The header reads Preview. A strip under it shows five dots and "N of 5 messages left today". |
| Messages | 30 messages per 5 minutes | "Too many chat messages. Please slow down." Wait a few minutes. |
| Daily usage (both plans) | A daily usage limit, counted from midnight ET. At the limit, Hero Chat pauses until midnight ET. | From half the limit, a strip under the header shows Daily usage with a bar and the percent used. At the limit, the panel reads "You reached today's Hero Chat limit." |
| Message length | 8,000 characters per message | The message does not send. |
| Work per reply | A handful of reads and cards per message | "tool budget exceeded" on the extra step. Split the request into two messages. |
| Thread history | The recent part of a long thread | Older messages stay visible, but Hero stops using them. |
| Pages | Day View, slate workspace, Dashboard, Film Room | The chat button is absent on other pages. |
| Cost | None | Hero Chat uses no credits and adds nothing to your invoice. |
"Build 20 lineups with a QB stack, fill, and export" fits in one message: Hero chains a settings card, a build card, a fill card, and an export card.
The Essential daily allowance
- Hero Chat on Essential is a preview. The header shows a Preview tag where Power shows Power. The strip under the header shows one dot per message (a filled dot for each one left), then "N of 5 messages left today".
- Each message Hero answers uses one of the 5. A reply that fails does not count. A reply you stop before it finishes does not count either, up to 5 stopped replies a day. The count resets at the next midnight ET.
- A click on Confirm on a card does not use a message. A card you confirm still runs after you use all 5, up to 50 confirmed cards a day.
- More on Power at the right of the strip opens the Power preview: Higher Hero Chat limits, with Essential: 5 messages a day and Power: Higher limits, today's prorated price, and Upgrade to Power.
- When you use all 5, the chat input, the "Ask about the slate" line, and the suggested prompts go away, and the strip reads "0 of 5 messages left today". The panel reads "You used today's 5 messages. Hero Chat opens again at midnight." The time shows in your own clock, so on the West Coast it reads 9:00 PM. Below it, the same Power preview shows.
- Upgrade to Power opens the plan change in place. After you pay, the input comes back and the strip goes. Hide removes the preview and More on Power. If you turned off Show Power features, the Preview tag, the count, and the used-up line still show, without the preview.
- Power features stay on Power in the chat too. On Essential, Hero does not save a Playbook, read Playbook Replay, read Hero Insights, read Hero IQ past its headline and top opportunity, or build more than 500 lineups. Hero tells you in one line when you ask for one.
What Hero never does
- Hero never applies a change without a card. Every change waits for Confirm.
- Hero never schedules a cloud build. A build from Hero Chat runs in your browser tab. See Schedule a cloud build.
- Hero fills only the contests switched on in Contest Setup. In those contests, a Fill entries card replaces entries another build tab filled, the same as the Fill button.
- Hero never edits your entries on DraftKings or FanDuel. You upload the exported CSV yourself.
- Hero never runs a card you left open. Reload the page with a card waiting and the card is cancelled; send the request again.
- Hero never sends a notification.
- Hero never changes a slate you do not have open. It asks "Which DraftKings slate should I apply this to?" instead.
Reads that depend on the sport
Some reads exist only for some sports and formats. On another slate, Hero answers "not available here" and explains why.
| Read | Where it works |
|---|---|
| StackIQ | Classic NFL, NHL, MLB, CFB |
| Pivots | Classic NBA, WNBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, CFB, CBB |
| Late swap | Classic NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, CFB, CBB, WNBA, soccer |
| Film Room and contests coaching | Once Film Room has results, from a tracked contest or an imported history |
Tips
- Send fewer, fuller messages. A chip click counts as a message.
- Start a new thread for a new slate. A long thread pushes old context out of Hero's view.
- Confirm or cancel every card before you close the panel.
Troubleshooting
"Hero Chat needs an active subscription." : the subscription is not active, or it is paused. Resume or renew under Settings. See Manage your subscription.
"Hero Chat is not enabled." : Hero Chat is not switched on for your account. See Contact support.
"Hero ran into an error" : the reply stopped. Send the message again.
"You reached today's Hero Chat limit." : the day's use reached Hero Chat's daily limit. Hero Chat opens again at midnight ET. The panel shows the time in your own clock.
