Manage your subscription

Last updated Oct 15, 2026

The Subscription page is where you control your DFS Hero plan and billing. Open it from Settings in the top bar, then Subscription. This page stays open even when a failed payment locks the rest of the app.

Before you start

  • Know what each plan includes. See Plans: Essential and Power.
  • Have a card ready if you plan to subscribe or upgrade. Prepaid and gift cards are not accepted.

The plan card

The card shows your plan, its status (Active, Trial, Paused, Past_due, or Cancelled), the price, the current period, and your per-build lineup limit: 10,000 on Power or 500 on Essential. On Power monthly it also shows your Hero Streak. See Credits.

Alerts appear above the card when something needs you:

  • Payment Required: your access is paused until you update your payment method or retry the charge. Click Pay Now to retry with your card on file.
  • Subscription Ending: your cancellation is pending. Click Keep My Subscription to undo it.
  • Subscription Paused: click Resume Now to come back early.

Change your plan

Upgrades apply right away. Downgrades apply at your next renewal.

The Change plan card is hidden while a payment is past due. Pay the failed payment first with Pay Now.

  1. Pick a billing period: Weekly, Monthly, or 6 Months.
  2. Click the button on the row you want: Upgrade, Downgrade, Switch Plan, or Subscribe.
  3. Read the dialog and confirm with the footer button.

What the dialog tells you:

  • Upgrade: your new plan starts at once, and you pay a prorated amount today for the rest of the billing period.
  • Downgrade from a paid plan: you keep your current plan until the renewal date.
  • Downgrade during the trial: your trial ends and the new plan starts now.
  • Power to Essential: a warning that you lose the 10,000 lineup build cap, Playbooks and cloud auto-builds, and Hero IQ and Hero Chat.
  • A Promo Code field. Type the code and click Apply.
  • New subscription: a Payment Method list with your saved cards. Add a card first if the list is empty.

A declined card leaves your old plan in place. Nothing changes until the charge succeeds.

Compare the plans

Compare full plans under the plan rows opens the public pricing page.

PeriodEssentialPower
Weekly$24.95 / week$44.95 / week
Monthly$79.95 / month$149.95 / month
6 Months$399.95 / 6 months$749.95 / 6 months

Six-month plans cost 20% less than paying monthly. Only the Power monthly plan starts with the $1 trial. Every other plan bills at once.

The $1 trial

The trial gives you full Power access for 5 days for $1. After day 5 the plan renews at the full monthly price unless you cancel. The trial is available once per user. Start it at sign-up with Start $1 Trial, or from Change plan with Subscribe on the Power monthly row.

Cancelling during the trial ends your access at once. The trial does not run to day 5 after a cancel.

Pause your subscription

Pause shows only on a monthly plan with the status Active. A trial cannot be paused.

  1. Click Pause on the plan card.
  2. Pick 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, or 1 month.
  3. Click Pause for {label}.

While paused you keep your account, your builds, your per-build lineup cap, and your Hero Streak, and no charges occur until the pause ends. A pause lasts at most 1 month and billing resumes on its own on the date you picked, so it covers a short break, not a whole off-season. Every Power feature is off: Playbooks, cloud builds, Hero Chat, Hero IQ, and Replay of a playbook. DFS Hero also does not track your contests for Film Room while paused. See Film Room. Click Resume or Resume Now to end the pause early.

Cancel your subscription

A cancel deletes your data at the end of the period. For a break of a month or less, pause instead.

  1. Click Cancel on the plan card.
  2. Pick a reason and click Continue.
  3. Read the warning: "If you cancel, you will permanently lose your builds, entry history, Film Room history, playbooks, and settings. This cannot be undone, even if you resubscribe."
  4. Click Cancel subscription (or Cancel trial and lose access), then click Tap again to confirm within 4 seconds.

A paid plan keeps full access until the end of the current period. Click Keep My Subscription at any time before that date to undo the cancel and keep everything, your Hero Streak included. On a paid Power monthly plan, the confirm step also offers Pause instead. Your streak freezes.

Payment methods

The Payment Methods card lists every saved card. The row menu has Set as Default and Remove.

  1. Click Add Payment Method.
  2. Enter a card, or pick Google Pay or Apple Pay.
  3. Click Add Payment Method.

If you remove your only card while a subscription is active, add another one. Setting a new default during a failed-payment grace period retries the open invoice at once and restores your access.

Billing history

The Billing History card lists your paid transactions with the reason, date, and amount. DFS Hero also emails a receipt for each payment.

How billing works

  • Upgrades charge a prorated amount today and start at once.
  • Downgrades wait for the renewal date.
  • A failed renewal sets your status to Past_due and starts a 3-day grace period. During the grace period every app page except Settings redirects to the Subscription page. Fix the card or click Pay Now before the deadline.
  • When the trial ends the card on file is charged the full monthly price. If that charge fails, the same grace period starts.
  • After a cancellation runs out or a grace period expires, your builds and entry history are hidden for good, and your playbooks, Film Room history, chat threads, and settings are deleted. Billing records stay. Reactivate before the end date to avoid this.
  • Credits on your account reduce the next invoice automatically. See Credits.

Tips

  • Schedule the downgrade before the renewal date. You keep Power until that date, and the renewal then bills the lower plan.
  • Add a second card before a big slate weekend. A single expired card can lock the app for 3 days.
  • On Power monthly, the Hero Streak lowers your price by $5 for each full month, up to $30 off. A move to weekly or 6-month billing resets it.
  • Use the 6-month plan when you play the full season on both sites.

Troubleshooting

"You are already on this plan." : you clicked a row that matches your current plan and period. Pick a different row.

"No active subscription to update" : the plan change needs an active plan. Subscribe first, then change.

"Please add a payment method first" : the subscribe dialog found no saved card. Add one under Payment Methods and try again.

"The prorated charge could not be loaded. Please close and reopen this window to try again." : the upgrade dialog could not price the upgrade. Close it and click the row again.

"The plan change failed and your previously scheduled plan change was removed. Please redo the plan change." : a pending downgrade was cleared while the new change failed. Redo the change you want.

"Your last payment failed. Open Settings > Subscription and press Pay Now to retry it." : you tried to subscribe while a payment is past due. Click Pay Now in the Payment Required alert. You do not need a new subscription.

"Trial activation charge could not be completed. Please try a different payment method." : the $1 charge was declined. Prepaid cards are refused. Use another card.

"Only monthly subscriptions can be paused" : a weekly or 6-month plan cannot pause.

"Only active subscriptions can be paused" : a trial or a lapsed plan cannot pause.

"Your subscription is paused. Resume it to access this feature." : you opened a Power feature while paused. Click Resume on the plan card.

"This build requests N lineups, but your plan supports up to M per build. Upgrade to Power for a higher per-build cap." : Essential builds up to 500 lineups per build. Power builds up to 10,000. Lower the count or upgrade.

"Your trial has been cancelled and access has been revoked." : you cancelled during the trial. Subscribe again from Change plan; the trial cannot be reused.

"Failed to remove card" or "This payment method does not belong to your account" : the card could not be removed. Refresh the page and try again.
