Hero Chat prompts that work

Last updated Oct 15, 2026

Hero Chat answers plain questions and turns plain requests into proposal cards. Use the prompts below as written or change the numbers and names. Each section says where to send the prompt, because Hero can only change the slate that is open in the workspace.

Power plan. Hero Chat is part of the Power plan. On Essential the chat button does not appear.

Before you start

Slate research

Send these from the Day View or from a slate workspace.

PromptWhat Hero does
"What slates are looking good today?"Lists the date's slates by lock time, with their contest counts and the slates you have entries on
"What's locking soonest?"Lists the next locks
"Best contests across all sports today"Ranks the top contests across every slate
"What does this slate look like?"Games, contests, lock time, roster rules
"Which contests on this slate match my profile?"Matches the slate's contests to your history for the sport and site
"Analyze the $20 contest from last night"Field size, winning and cash-line scores, top ownership, and how compressed the top of the field was, for one finished contest
"What do winners of contests like this usually look like?"Top-finisher patterns from comparable past contests
"Which games have the highest totals?"Game environments, with weather where available
"Show me the StackIQ ratings"Shows the StackIQ table (classic NFL, NHL, MLB, CFB)
"Find me pivots off the chalk"Shows the Pivot board (classic NBA, WNBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, CFB, CBB)
"Give me the primer for NFL"Reads the sport strategy primer

Ask Hero to rank slates by contest value and explain the top choice. It names the overlay and fill behind the pick.

Build settings

Send these from the slate workspace. Each one returns an Apply build settings card to confirm.

PromptWhat the card carries
"Recommend build settings for this slate."A full recommendation: lineup count, stacking, exposure caps, a team cap, Smart Randomness, and sometimes locks
"Set Smart Randomness to Moderate and max exposure to 40%"Smart Randomness and the exposure cap
"Build 150 lineups"The lineup count
"Use my projections instead of Hero projections"The projection source
"Set min uniques to 3"Min unique players between lineups
"Lock Jahmyr Gibbs and exclude Bijan Robinson"Locked and excluded players
"Cap Jahmyr Gibbs at 25% and give Ja'Marr Chase at least 10%"An Apply exposures card with per-player floors and ceilings only
"Boost Ja'Marr Chase two steps and dock CeeDee Lamb one"An Apply exposures card that sets the boost steps, 5% of the projection each. "Clear the boost on Chase" sets it back to zero
"Max 4 players from one team"The per-team cap
"Stack a QB with two pass catchers"A stack rule

A request for two settings can come back as a full recommendation. Read the card before you confirm.

Builds

Send these from the slate workspace with a build tab selected.

PromptWhat Hero does
"Build 20 lineups with a QB plus two pass catchers stack"A settings card, then a Run the build. card
"Run the build"A Run the build. card with the settings you have
"Did the build finish? How many lineups are in the pool?"Reports the real pool and working set counts
"Run the sim"A Run the sim card with your saved sim settings
"Show me my top 5 lineups by projection"The built lineups with players and sim metrics

A build from Hero Chat runs in your browser, so keep the tab open.

Entries and export

Send these from the slate workspace after you upload the entries CSV.

PromptWhat Hero does
"Summarize my entries for the current slate."Your entries and their fill state per contest
"Fill my entries"A Fill entries card that fills with the allocation shown in Entries Preview
"Export the DraftKings CSV"An Export CSV card that downloads the upload file
"Fill my entries and export"Both cards in order

A Fill entries card writes the same lineups as the Fill button, for the contests switched on in Contest Setup, including over entries another build tab filled. An export before a fill fails with "No lineups in your entries yet".

Late swap

Send these from the slate workspace after the first games start. Late swap runs on classic slates in NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, CFB, CBB, WNBA, and soccer.

PromptWhat Hero does
"Run a late swap on my entries"A Run late swap card that selects every swappable entry
"Which of my entries still have unlocked players?"Lists the entries with open slots

See Late swap with Hero Chat for the card and the export step.

Playbooks

Send these from any page where Hero Chat opens.

PromptWhat Hero does
"Create a playbook for NFL DraftKings GPPs with 3,000 lineups and auto-fill"A Create playbook card. Confirming saves the playbook and opens the editor
"What is the status of my scheduled build?"The status of the scheduled cloud build

Hero never schedules a cloud build. Schedule it from the Day View. See Schedule a cloud build.

Your results

Send these from the Dashboard or Film Room. Hero reads your Film Room results: the contests DFS Hero tracks by your saved username and any history you imported. See Film Room.

PromptWhat Hero does
"How did I do this week?"Your results summary for the window
"What's my ROI by sport?"ROI, ITM %, stake, and profit by sport
"Which contest types are most profitable for me?"Your history by contest type
"What does Hero IQ say about my bankroll?"The latest Hero IQ coaching
"Remember that I only play DraftKings"Saves the fact to Memory

Tips

  • Name the number. "Build 20 lineups" beats "build a few lineups".
  • Name the player the way the grid shows it. Hero matches names against the player pool.
  • Name the setting the way the sheet shows it: Smart Randomness, max exposure, min uniques, projection source.
  • Send one task per message. A long list gets cut.
  • Check the Build Settings sheet after a full recommendation.

Troubleshooting

"Which DraftKings slate should I apply this to?" : you sent a settings request from the Day View. Open the slate and send it again.

"not available here" : the read does not exist for this sport or format. See the sport lists above.

"No lineups in your entries yet" : you asked for an export before a fill. Fill first.

"The user does not have this slate open on the date they are viewing, so nothing was applied..." : move the Day View's date picker to the slate's date and open the slate.
