College basketball runs from November to the tournament in March and April. Slates are large in the early season and shrink to a few games on tournament nights. DFS Hero supports CBB on DraftKings and FanDuel in classic format only.
Sites and formats
| Site | Format | Roster | Salary cap |
|---|---|---|---|
| DraftKings | Classic | G, G, G, F, F, F, UTIL, UTIL (8 players) | $50,000 |
| FanDuel | Classic | G, G, G, G, F, F, F, UTIL (8 players) | $50,000 |
Team and game limits:
- DraftKings needs players from at least 2 games.
- FanDuel allows at most 4 players from one team and needs at least 3 teams.
The Player Pool
Use the projection, ownership, value, and exposure columns to compare CBB players. The UTIL tab lists every guard and forward. CBB has no sport-specific stat columns and no Player Status filter.
Build Settings
CBB has no sport rules of its own. Min Unique Players goes up to 7 on both sites.
Stacks
CBB uses Team Stack rules only. Each rule sets a Stack Size, an optional Max exp %/team, and a For Teams list. No stack is on by default.
Min/Max
MAX PLAYERS PER TEAM and GENERAL PER TEAM default to a maximum of 7 on DraftKings, the most the site allows, because a lineup needs players from at least 2 games. FanDuel caps at 4 per team. On both sites the setting can only go lower. The Groups tab's metric filter adds Minutes for CBB.
Features that apply
| Feature | CBB support |
|---|---|
| Late Swap | Yes, on both sites. |
| StackIQ | Not available. |
| Game Sim | Yes, on both sites. |
| Hero Chat pivots | Yes, on the Power plan. |
Stack shapes
CBB rewards game stacks more than team stacks. Two or three players from the fastest game on the slate, split across both teams, is the common GPP shape. A Team Stack rule with Stack Size 2 and a For Teams list of the highest-total games does this. Cash lineups skip stacks and take the best usage per slot.
Tips
- Projections are less certain than NBA projections because rotations change often. Use Moderate Smart Randomness when uncertain rotations make you want a wider pool.
- Blowouts cut minutes for starters on big favorites. Use Game Sim to find the games with the closest spreads and the highest totals.
- In cash contests, prefer players with a fixed role on a slow-paced team over high-ceiling bench scorers.
- Large early-season slates hold hundreds of players. Exclude the bottom of the pool before you build so the optimizer works from the players you trust.
- On a slate with staggered start times, run Re-optimize in Late Swap after the first lock to replace a late scratch.
- Raise Min Unique Players to 3 in a large GPP. The 8-player roster repeats fast on a short slate.
