Notifications

Last updated Oct 15, 2026

DFS Hero watches the slates you have entries on and tells you when something changes: a player is ruled out, a projection moves, a slate is about to lock, a cloud build finishes, or your results arrive. Notifications arrive in the bell at the top of the app and, if you turn it on, as push alerts on your device. Settings > Notifications controls which alerts you get, and the Custom Alerts tab lets you write your own rules on any player metric.

Before you start

  • Upload entries to a slate. Player, projection, and lock alerts fire only for slates where you have entries. See Upload your entries.
  • Keep an active plan. Notification settings need a live subscription. See Manage your subscription.

Where notifications show

  1. The bell in the top bar shows the unread count. Click it to open the panel and click Mark all read to clear it.
  2. A toast when a new notification arrives while the app is open. Click View to open the panel.
  3. A push alert on your device, when you enabled push.
  4. A build-complete toast in the workspace when a build finishes on a slate tab you are not looking at.

Click a row to mark it read and jump to the related screen. A player out or late swap row opens the slate and the Swap sheet. A cloud build or slate row opens the slate. A results row opens the slate's Entries page.

Rows of the same type on the same slate that arrive close together collapse into one row, for example "3 players OUT". Marking that row read marks every one inside it.

Player, projection, pivot, late swap, and custom alerts expire after 24 hours. A slate lock reminder expires after 1 hour. A player out row is removed when the player is cleared. A cloud run you started by hand sends no push, because you are already watching it.

Ownership Shifts is marked Coming soon and cannot be turned on yet.

The switches control the in-app rows. Push has its own defaults per type, listed in the table above. Results Are In controls both its in-app row and its push. There is no email, SMS, or Discord channel for these alerts. DFS Hero sends email only for account events: receipts, failed payments, cancellations, credits, password changes, and email changes.

Push notifications on your device

  1. Open Settings > Notifications on the device you want alerts on.
  2. Turn on Enable push notifications.
  3. Allow notifications when the browser asks.

The switch reflects this device only. Turn it on again on each phone or computer. An account can register up to 20 devices. A device that has not opened DFS Hero for 90 days is dropped.

Tapping a push alert focuses an open DFS Hero tab or opens the slate. A results push opens the slate's Entries page. Several alerts of one type on one slate arrive as one push.

On an iPhone or iPad, install DFS Hero first: tap the Share button in Safari, choose Add to Home Screen, open DFS Hero from the home screen icon, sign in if it asks, and then enable push. See Browser and device support.

Custom alerts

A custom alert is a rule you write on one player metric. DFS Hero checks your rules against the slate data and notifies you when a rule matches. You can keep up to 25 rules.

Create a rule from Settings

  1. Open Settings > Notifications and click the Custom Alerts tab.
  2. Click Create Alert.
  3. Type an Alert Name.
  4. Narrow the players with Position (for example "QB, RB") or Team (for example "DAL"). Fill at least one.
  5. Set the Condition: a metric, an operator, and a value.
  6. Pick a Cooldown.
  7. Click Create Alert.

Create a rule for one player from the workspace

  1. Open a slate and click a player to open the player panel.
  2. Click the bell button.
  3. Set the condition and cooldown, then click Create Alert.

This dialog adds Player Scope (Specific Player or Player Filter) and Slate Scope (All slates or This slate only). When a rule already exists for that player, the bell opens it for editing.

CooldownThe minimum time between repeated alerts for the same rule, from 15 min to 8 hours. Stops the spam when a metric hovers near the threshold.2 hours

Manage your rules

Each rule card shows the name, a summary of the condition, how many times it fired, Edit rule, Delete rule, and an on/off switch. A rule whose metric no longer exists carries a Metric retired badge. Deleting a rule cannot be undone.

Tips

  • Leave Player Out Notifications and Late Swap Opportunities on with push. Those two are the alerts that save entries after lock. See What Late Swap does.
  • Set Change Threshold to 10% or more for NFL and CFB. A 5% threshold fires often on slates with many players.
  • Write an ownership rule for your top stack piece, for example "Ownership % is above 30", to catch chalk before lock.
  • Use a long cooldown for slow metrics like salary and a short one for projections on game day.
  • Enable push on your phone, not only on your computer. Slate lock reminders arrive when you are rarely at a desk.
  • Scheduled builds tell you when they finish through the cloud build notification. See Scheduled builds.

Troubleshooting

"Subscription Required" : your subscription lapsed. Fix billing on the Subscription page.

"Failed to save notification preferences" : the switch did not save. Flip it again.

"Your browser does not support push notifications." : this browser cannot receive push. Use a current desktop or mobile browser. On iPhone or iPad, update to iOS 16.4 or later.

"Install DFS Hero to enable push notifications" : on iPhone or iPad, push works only from the home screen app. Add DFS Hero to the home screen and open it from there.

"Notifications are blocked for this site. Enable them in your browser settings to receive push alerts." : you denied the permission. Allow notifications for DFS Hero in the browser's site settings, then return.

"Brave is blocking push notifications" : Brave disables push by default. Open brave://settings/privacy, turn on "Use Google services for push messaging", quit and relaunch Brave, and try again.

"Your browser rejected the push subscription" : a VPN, firewall, privacy setting, or corrupt browser profile blocks the push service. Try a new profile or a different browser, then click Try again.

"Could not enable push notifications. Please try again." : the device could not register. Reload and try again.

"Too many devices registered for push. Remove one first." : the account has 20 push devices. Turn push off on a device you no longer use.

"Maximum of 25 custom alert rules per user" : delete a rule before you add another.

"Please specify a player or filter criteria" : the rule has no player, position, or team. Fill one.
