Profile and appearance

Last updated Nov 4, 2026

The Profile page holds who you are in DFS Hero: your picture, your name, the username other players see, your email, your phone, and your DraftKings and FanDuel usernames. The Appearance page holds how the app looks. Open both from Settings in the top bar. Settings lands on Profile; Appearance is the second tab in the left sidebar.

Before you start

  • To use Use Discord Avatar, link Discord first under Settings > Security. See Security.

Profile picture

  1. Click Upload Photo.
  2. Pick a JPG, PNG, or WebP file under 10 MB. DFS Hero crops it to a centered square at 256 by 256.

Use Discord Avatar copies the avatar from your linked Discord account. The trash icon removes your picture and returns you to your initials.

Basic information

Edit any field in the Basic Information card, then click Save Changes.

FieldRules
UsernameThe name other players see. 3 to 30 characters: letters, numbers, underscores, dots, and hyphens. Stored in lowercase.
First NameRequired, up to 100 characters.
Last NameOptional, up to 100 characters.
Email AddressThe address you sign in with and where DFS Hero sends billing and security email.
Phone NumberA US or Canadian mobile number.

Change your email

  1. Edit Email Address.
  2. Type your password in the Current Password field that appears.
  3. Click Save Changes.

DFS Hero emails your old address so you can react if the change was not yours. An account that signs in with Discord only can leave Current Password blank.

Change your phone number

The number must be a US or Canadian mobile number. Landline and VoIP numbers are refused. After you save a new number, DFS Hero asks you to verify it with a 6-digit text code before you use the app again.

DFS usernames

Type your DraftKings and FanDuel screen names (up to 50 characters each) and click Save Changes. DFS Hero tracks the entries under these usernames in the contests that start after you save them, and your results show in Film Room. Your uploaded entries are tracked with no username. A username does not reach back: a contest that started before the save counts only when you uploaded its entries to DFS Hero, or when you import it in Film Room. Save only your own username, because DFS Hero counts every entry that plays under a saved name as yours. See Film Room.

The line under each saved name reads "Tracking SamPlays's contests since Oct 1. Check the name". A save, or a click on Check the name, counts the recent contests DFS Hero saved that hold the name. The line then reads "Found SamPlays in 34 recent contests. The name counts only contests after your save. To add older contests, import your history in Film Room." The found contests confirm the spelling. The ones that started before your save stay out of Film Room, unless you uploaded their entries. When the name is in none of them, the line says so; check the spelling against the site. While your plan is paused, the line reads "Tracking is off while your plan is paused. DFS Hero adds a contest only when its results arrive while your plan is active." While a renewal payment is due, the line adds "Your payment did not go through. DFS Hero keeps tracking your contests, and they show when the payment goes through."

When the entries you uploaded play under a different name, the line warns you, for example "Your uploaded entries play as SamPlays2, not SamPlays." DraftKings and FanDuel never change a username, so fix the saved name. A change or a clear removes the contests that only the old name found, so Save Changes asks first. The dialog says how many tracked contests under the old name leave Film Room. Click Change username or Remove username to save, or Cancel to keep the saved name. The contests from the entries you upload stay.

The Contest Analyzer's Vs. Field tab compares your entries with the field and the top 1% in each contest where DFS Hero tracked your entries. It also finds your username in a contest from before the save, and marks it Before tracking started. Not in Film Room. See Contest results and the Contest Analyzer.

Tips

  • Pick a light theme (Minimal, Cappuccino, or Morning Bloom) for a bright room. Every screenshot in this help center uses Dark.
  • Use Auto on a laptop that switches its own light and dark mode by time of day.
  • Keep your email current. The password reset link and every billing notice go to that address.

Troubleshooting

"Please select an image file" : the file is not an image. Pick a JPG, PNG, or WebP.

"Image must be under 10MB" : the file is too large. Shrink it or pick another.

"Failed to upload avatar" : the upload did not finish. Check your connection and try again.

"Username must be at least 3 characters", "Username must be 30 characters or less", or "Only letters, numbers, underscores, dots, and hyphens allowed" : the username breaks a rule. Fix the text.

"Username is already taken" : another account uses that name. Pick a different one.

"Email address is already in use" : another account uses that email. Use a different address.

"Current password is required to change your email" : you edited the email and left the password blank. Type your password.

"Current password is incorrect" : the password did not match. Type it again, or reset it from the sign-in page.

"Please enter a valid US or Canadian phone number." : the number is not a 10-digit US or Canadian number.

"That phone number is already in use" : another account verified that number.

"Username must be 50 characters or less" on the DFS Usernames card : shorten the site username.

"The check is not available right now." under a site username : the count could not run. Click Check the name again later.

"Your session is no longer valid. Please sign in again." : your sign-in expired while you edited. Sign in and save again.

"Couldn't load your profile" : the page could not read your account. Click Try again.
