DFS Hero is a web app. It runs in a desktop browser and in a phone browser, and it can sit on your phone's home screen like an installed app. Your builds, entries, playbooks, and settings belong to your account, so you can move between devices at any time.
Browsers
Use a current version of your browser on desktop or mobile. A few browsers need a setting:
- Brave. Brave Shields hides your device's real speed, so builds run slower. Allow the site in Shields when you see "Builds can run faster in Brave". Push notifications in Brave need "Use Google services for push messaging" turned on under
brave://settings/privacy, then a full relaunch. - Safari on iPhone and iPad. Push notifications work only after you add DFS Hero to the home screen and open it from there.
- A browser that blocks pop-ups. The Open DraftKings after export and Open FanDuel after export toggles open the site in a new tab. If the browser blocks it, click the Open DraftKings or Open FanDuel button in the notice, or allow pop-ups for DFS Hero.
On a phone every build and every sim runs on DFS Hero's side, so the phone's speed does not matter. Keep the tab open until the loader finishes, because the results land in the open tab.
The phone layout
On a phone, the workspace keeps every feature, but the three desktop panels become sheets.
| Desktop | Phone |
|---|---|
| Slate tabs in the top bar | A slate chip in the top bar. Tap it to open the slates drawer with the date, your open slates, and Add Slate. |
| Contests panel on the left | Tools sheet, Contests row. |
| Games chip in the toolbar | Tools sheet, Games row. Hidden for golf, tennis, F1, NASCAR, and MMA. |
| Lineups panel on the right | The Lineups button in the bottom bar. The sheet opens on its own when a build starts. |
| Build button in the toolbar | The Build button in the bottom bar. It reads Simulate in Build & Sim mode and Rebuild once a build exists. |
| Playbook picker in the toolbar | The book button in the bottom bar (Power plan). |
| Entries button in the toolbar | Tools sheet, Upload Entries row. Once entries exist, the Contest Entries row shows the entry count and fill progress. |
| Swap button in the toolbar | Tools sheet, Swap row. Shown only with entries on a supported slate. |
| Grid more menu | Tools sheet, Pool section: Slate Map, StackIQ, Projection Hub, Handbuild Mode, Auto-Apply Exposures, Advanced Mode, Heatmap. |
| Hero Insights button | Tools sheet, Hero Insights row (Power plan). |
| Export CSV and Share in the grid menu | Tools sheet, Export CSV and Share rows. |
| Help button in the top bar | The avatar drawer row Help & Updates. |
The player grid keeps its list and card views and its filters on a phone. The Day View keeps its tabs, the stats bar, and the slate cards, stacked in one column.
Two phone-only notes:
- Hero Academy on a phone has the Day View welcome card and the Academy tab in Help & Updates. The Loop rail and the one-time hints are for a desktop browser. See Hero Academy.
- FanDuel's entries CSV button on a phone shows only in landscape. Zoom out if it stays hidden. See Download your entries CSV.
Add DFS Hero to your home screen
Installed, DFS Hero opens full screen without the browser bar and can receive push notifications on iPhone and iPad. Do this before the season. Push alerts for a ruled-out player and for a finished cloud build reach an iPhone only from the installed app.
On iPhone or iPad:
- Open DFS Hero in Safari and sign in.
- Tap the Share button.
- Choose Add to Home Screen. If you see Open as Web App, leave it on. Then tap Add.
- Open DFS Hero from the home screen icon. Sign in if it asks.
- Go to Settings, then Notifications, and turn on Enable push notifications.
On Android and on desktop Chrome or Edge, use the browser's own install option for the site (an install icon in the address bar, or Install app in the browser menu).
The installed app is the same web app. You can keep using DFS Hero in a normal browser tab on the same device.
What browser data holds
Your account holds your builds, entries, fills, swaps, playbooks, Film Room results, templates, notification settings, and Hero Academy progress. The browser holds a working copy of each build's lineups, your open slate tabs, the selected date, and the push registration for this browser.
Clearing browser data signs you out and removes the working copies. Sign in again and open a slate; the build chips return and the lineups load from your account. Your open slate tabs do not return, so open the slates again from the Day View. Turn push notifications on again on the Notifications page.
A device that runs out of storage shows one of the messages under "The pool did not save or load on this device" in Build problems. Free space, then reload.
Sign in on another device
Sign in with the same email and password, or complete the two-factor challenge if you turned it on. Then:
- Open the same date on the Day View. Your entry counts are on your slates, in the My slates group at the top.
- Open a slate. The build chips are there with their lineups, exposures, and sim results.
- Fill and export from either device. The last fill wins, and the other device reloads the entries.
- Turn on push notifications on the new device if you want alerts there.
Your Hero Academy progress, Playbooks, Film Room results, and settings are the same on every device. See Saved builds and tabs.
Tips
- Build on the desktop, then open the slate on your phone before lock to check the entries and export.
- Keep one browser tab per slate. Two tabs on the same slate can both run builds, and the second one queues behind the first.
- Reload the page after an update notice such as "This app needs to be refreshed to continue" before you build or export.
