Short answers to the questions players ask most, each with a link to the full guide. If your question is about a message on screen, go to Build problems, Sim problems, Entries errors, or Late swap errors instead.

What is DFS Hero?

A lineup tool for DraftKings and FanDuel. You open a slate, build a pool of lineups, simulate them against a contest field, fill your uploaded entries, export a CSV, and upload it on the site. After lock you can late swap, and after the slate you can score your entries against the real results. See What DFS Hero does.

What is the difference between Essential and Power?

Both plans run the same workspace: Player Pool, Build, Simulate, entries, export, Late Swap, Contest Analyzer, Film Room, and single-contest Replay. Essential builds up to 500 lineups per build. Power builds up to 10,000 and adds Playbooks, cloud builds, the full Hero IQ read, Hero Insights, playbook Replay, the full Scouting report, and Hero Chat with no daily limit. Essential has Hero Chat with 5 new messages a day. See Plans: Essential and Power.

How does the $1 trial work?

$1 for 5 days of full Power access on the monthly plan, once per user. The full monthly price is charged when the 5 days end. If you cancel during the trial, access ends at once. See Create your account.

Which sites does DFS Hero support?

DraftKings and FanDuel. An entries CSV from another site is rejected at upload. See Supported sports and sites.

Which sports does DFS Hero support?

14 sports: NFL, CFB, NBA, WNBA, CBB, MLB, NHL, golf, NASCAR, F1, MMA, soccer, tennis, and League of Legends. Every sport works on DraftKings. FanDuel has no F1, tennis, or League of Legends slates. Both plans include every sport. See Supported sports and sites and the Sport Guides.

Does DFS Hero support showdown and single-game slates?

Yes for most team sports. DraftKings calls the format Showdown with a CPT slot, FanDuel calls it Single-game with an MVP slot, and both score that slot at 1.5 times. See Showdown and single-game slates.

How many lineups can I build?

Essential builds up to 500 lineups per build. Power builds up to 10,000. Run more builds in more build tabs when you want more lineups on one slate. See Pool size and lineup count.

How long does a build take?

A build of a few hundred lineups usually finishes in under a minute. A high Min Unique Players value or very tight rules slow the build, and the settings sheet warns you before you start when the projected time is long. See Build settings overview.

Where do the projections come from?

Hero Proj is the player's simulated average game. Hero Own is the projected ownership. Both refresh through the week and more often on game day. See Projections and ownership.

Can I use my own projections?

Yes. Edit any cell in My Proj or My Own, or upload a CSV through Projection Hub. Projection Source is My Projection by default, so the next build uses your numbers. See Upload custom projections.

Why do I get different lineups when I rebuild?

Smart Randomness nudges each player's projection on every build, so each build explores different lineups. Turn Smart Randomness off and leave Manual Randomness at 0 to get your exact top lineups, the same ones from the same settings every time, for builds of up to 500 lineups. Above 500 lineups the build turns Smart Randomness on and tells you. A projection refresh between two builds also changes the result. See Randomness.

What does Rebuild do to my current lineups?

Rebuild replaces the build tab's pool and clears every simulation result on that tab. This cannot be undone. Add a new build tab instead when you want to keep the current pool. See The lineups panel.

Do my builds sync across devices?

Yes. DFS Hero saves every completed build to your account. Sign in on another device, open the same slate, and the build chips are there. Clearing your browser data loses nothing. See Saved builds and tabs.

Do my entries sync across devices?

Yes. Uploaded entries, fills, and swaps are stored with your account. See Upload your entries.

Does DFS Hero enter contests for me?

No. DFS Hero never sends anything to DraftKings or FanDuel. You download the entries CSV from the site, upload it to DFS Hero, fill the entries from a build, export the CSV, and upload it on the site yourself. See The DFS Hero loop.

How do I get my lineups into my contests?

Enter the contests on the site first, then download the entries CSV from DraftKings or FanDuel. Upload it on the slate in the Day View or in the workspace, build, click Fill, click Export, and upload the file on the site. See Download your entries CSV, Contest setup and fill, Export and upload to DraftKings, and Export and upload to FanDuel.

Can I export lineups without an entries file?

Yes. The lineups panel exports the selected lineups as a CSV in the site's format for manual entry. See Export lineups without entries.

What is the simulator, and why do its numbers differ from the projections?

The simulator scores your pool against a simulated contest field many times and reports, per lineup, the chance to win, to finish in the top 0.1%, 1%, and 5%, to cash, and the expected ROI. The lineup with the highest projection is often not the lineup with the best ROI, because the field, the payout ladder, and duplicates matter. See How the simulator works.

Do I need a sim to fill entries?

No. You can fill from a Build Only pool with Balanced Exposure or Highest Ranked. A sim adds the ROI and Win Paths methods. See Selection methods.

When should I late swap?

After the slate's first game locks, and only when an entry still holds a player whose game has not started. Open the Swap sheet, preview, apply, then export and upload the swapped file on the site. Late swap works on classic slates in NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, CFB, CBB, WNBA, and soccer. See What Late Swap does and Run a late swap.

What is a Playbook?

A saved plan: build, sim, select, fill, and export in one run. It runs in your browser, or in the cloud before lock with the tab closed. Playbooks need the Power plan. See What is a playbook.

Can DFS Hero build while I am away?

Yes, on Power. Schedule a cloud build from the slate in the Day View, and the run fires before lock. You get a notification, open the Mission Report, and download the CSV. See Schedule a cloud build.

What can Hero Chat do?

Hero Chat reads the slate, your entries, and your history. It proposes settings changes, builds, sims, fills, exports, late swaps, and playbook saves, and it acts only when you click Confirm. It never schedules a cloud build, never uploads to a site, and never sends a notification. It runs on both plans. Essential has 5 new messages a day. Saving a playbook from chat needs Power. See Meet Hero Chat and Hero Chat limits.

What is Hero IQ?

Hero IQ reads your build history and results and writes coaching notes on the Dashboard and in Film Room. It starts after your fifth build. Power shows the full read. Essential shows the Dashboard headline and top opportunity. See Hero IQ.

How does Replay work?

Replay scores a set of lineups against a contest that already finished, on the real leaderboard and the real payout table. Scoring the Entries Preview lineups, the entries you played, or a saved build against one contest works on both plans. Replaying a playbook across up to 20 past slates needs Power. See Replay.

How do I see how my entries did?

Upload your entries file to the slate, or save your DraftKings and FanDuel usernames in Settings > Profile. DFS Hero then tracks your contests, and after the slate the Entries view shows each entry's place and payout. Film Room adds up your results across slates. Open the slate on a past date for the Contest Analyzer, which shows the field, the winners, and the stacks. Replay scores the entries you played. See Contest results and Film Room.

Does Film Room fill itself?

Yes, while your plan is active. DFS Hero tracks every entry you upload to it, and the entries under your saved DraftKings or FanDuel username in contests that start after you save it in Settings > Profile. It adds a contest once it saves the contest's final standings: nearly every FanDuel contest, nearly every DraftKings contest with 1,000 or more entries, and nearly every contest in an entries file you upload. A smaller DraftKings contest that you did not upload can be missing, and so can a FanDuel head-to-head or a FanDuel golf contest. A private league is never tracked, because its standings are not public. To add older contests, a contest that tracking missed, or a private league, import your contest history CSV from DraftKings or FanDuel. See Film Room.

Does DFS Hero send email or text alerts?

No. Notifications arrive in the app and as web push. On iPhone and iPad, push works only after you add DFS Hero to the home screen. See Notifications.

Is there a mobile app?

DFS Hero is a web app that works on a phone. Add it to your home screen for an app icon and push notifications. On a phone, builds and sims run on DFS Hero's side. See Browser and device support.

How do I change or cancel my plan?

Open Settings, then Subscription. Change plan moves you between plans and billing periods; an upgrade applies at once, a downgrade at the next renewal. Cancel ends a paid plan at the end of the current billing period and a trial at once. See Manage your subscription.

Do you refund a billing period?

Past billing periods are not refunded. A cancelled paid plan keeps its access until the period ends, and future charges stop. A cancelled trial ends at once. See Manage your subscription.

Can I pause instead of cancelling?

Yes, on an active monthly plan, for 1 week to 1 month. You keep your account and data, no charge runs during the pause, and Power features are off until the date you picked or an earlier Resume; billing resumes on its own on that date. A trial cannot pause. See Manage your subscription.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

You permanently lose your builds, entry history, Film Room history, playbooks, and settings at the end of the period, even if you resubscribe. Reactivate before the period ends to keep everything.

What are credits?

An account balance that applies to your next invoices. See Credits.

I forgot my password. What do I do?

Click Forgot password on the sign-in page. The reset link in the email works for 30 minutes. See Security.

Is there a keyboard shortcut list?

Yes. Press Cmd+/ on a Mac or Ctrl+/ on Windows, or press ?, to see every shortcut. Press Cmd+K or Ctrl+K to open the command palette, which searches pages, slates, builds, playbooks, and players. See Navigate the app.

Where do I get help?

Click Help & updates in the top bar, then the Help tab. It links to this Help Center and to the Discord, where the team answers every day. See Contact support.
