Saved builds and tabs

Last updated Oct 13, 2026

A build tab is one complete attempt at a slate: its settings, its pool, its entries, its exposure edits, and its simulation results. Every build you run gets its own tab in the workspace toolbar. Keep several tabs on one slate to compare ideas, switch between them, and come back to them later on any device.

Before you start

Work with build tabs

  1. Open a slate. The toolbar shows one tab, New Build. The + next to it stays disabled until that tab has built.
  2. Run a build. The tab takes the build time as its label and shows the pool size.

  1. Click + (Add new build). A new New Build tab opens with a copy of the active tab's settings, so you can change one thing and compare.

  1. Click Build and run the second build. Click any tab to switch the whole workspace (grid, panel, settings) to that build.
  2. Drag a tab left or right to put the tabs in your own order. On a phone, hold a tab still for a moment, then drag it. A plain swipe still scrolls the strip. The order stays after a reload and follows you to other devices.
  3. Double-click a built tab to rename it, up to 20 characters. Press Enter to save or Escape to cancel.

Read the marks on a tab

A tab can carry two small marks after its name.

MarkWhat it means
Ticket (green)This build fills your entries on this slate. Point at the tab to read how many.
PinYou pinned this build. Bulk delete skips it, and it never folds into Earlier.

Point at any tab to read its build time, its note, and its marks in a tooltip.

Earlier builds fold away

Builds from an earlier day fold into one Earlier chip at the start of the strip, with the count of hidden builds. Click it to show them, and click it again to fold them back. A build never folds while it is the one you are looking at, while it is still working, while it fills your entries, or while you pinned it.

The right-click menu

Right-click a tab on a computer for the menu.

ItemWhat it does
RenameOpens the name for editing, the same as a double-click.
Manage buildsOpens the Manage builds sheet, described below.
New combined buildOpens an empty tab that holds lineups from your other builds. See Combined builds.
Pin build / Unpin buildPins the build or removes the pin.
Delete buildDeletes this build, after a confirm.
Delete other buildsDeletes every other build on the slate, after one confirm. Pinned and working builds stay.
Delete builds to the rightDeletes the builds drawn to the right of this one, after one confirm.
Delete all buildsDeletes every build on the slate, after one confirm. Pinned and working builds stay.

A phone has no right-click. Use the Manage builds sheet there.

The Manage builds sheet

Click the list icon after the + to open the sheet. It lists every build on the slate, oldest first unless you reordered them.

ControlWhat it does
CheckboxTicks the build for a bulk delete. The box at the top ticks every build. A pinned or working build cannot be ticked.
Select earlierTicks the builds from an earlier day that the strip folds into Earlier: never the build you are on, a working build, a pinned build, or a build that fills your entries.
Grip handleDrag it up or down to reorder. With the handle focused, the up and down arrow keys move the row too.
Build nameClick it to open that build.
Note iconAdds a one-line note to the build, up to 140 characters. Click an existing note to edit it. Press Enter to save or Escape to cancel.
Pin iconPins or unpins the build. A build that has not built yet cannot pin.
Delete NDeletes every ticked build, after one confirm that names the count and the lineups.

The row under each name reads the lineup count, whether the build was simulated, how many entries it fills, whether it is pinned, and whether it is earlier. The next row names the settings the build was built with, such as Build & Sim · Hero Proj · Max Exp 40%. A long list shows its first three settings and +N more, which opens the whole list. Your note shows below.

The count at the top of the sheet adds up the lineup counts on the rows.

Notes and pins follow the build to every device you sign in on.

Which build fills my entries

Once you fill entries from a build, that build carries the ticket mark, and its row in the Manage builds sheet reads Fills N entries. The Entries view says the same under its title: from 7:42 PM, with the build's name. Click it to open that build. When two builds fill different contests, the line reads from 2 builds. The Entries Preview tab of a ticket build still shows that build's plan, like every other build. See View your entries.

Delete a build

The X on the active tab, the menu rows, and the sheet all open a Delete dialog first. The dialog names the build or the count, and the lineups that go with it. Delete build removes the build, its lineups, and its simulation results. There is no undo, so read the dialog before you click.

When the build fills your entries, the dialog says so. The entries keep the lineups they hold until your next Fill. See Contest setup and fill.

The X stays hidden while the build, a simulation, or a cloud run is still working. Cancel that work first. A slate keeps at least one tab, so deleting the last build leaves an empty New Build tab.

A build you delete on one device leaves your other devices too. The next time another device opens the slate or comes back to the front, it removes the tab and its lineups, and a short message says so.

How it works

Each tab is one build. Its Build Settings, exposure caps, Selection, Rank by, trash, groups, and simulation results belong to that tab alone. A change on one tab never touches another.

DFS Hero saves every completed build to your account. Reload the page and the tabs return with their lineups. Sign in on another device and open the same slate: the tabs are there, and the lineups load onto that device in a moment. Clearing your browser data loses nothing. The tab order, your pins, and your notes follow your account too.

A build made by a Playbook, a scheduled cloud build, a Handbuild lineup, or Hero Chat lands as a tab like any other. The lineup count for a new tab starts at your plan's cap: 500 on Essential and 10,000 on Power.

Tips

  • Rename tabs by idea, not by time: Stacked, No chalk, Cash. The name survives a reload.
  • Use a note for the reason behind a build, and the name for what it is.
  • Pin the build you plan to enter. Then Delete all builds clears the rest in one step.
  • Use one tab per settings idea and compare them through Build stats details in each panel.
  • Merge the pools of two tabs with Import More Builds in the Lineup actions menu.
  • Build on your desktop, then open the slate on your phone before lock. The tabs follow your account.

Troubleshooting

"Build lineups first to add another tab" : the + is disabled because the active tab has not built. Run a build first.

"Restoring this build's lineups..." : the lineups are loading onto this device. Wait a few seconds.

"This pool isn't saved on this device" or "Lineups kept on this device only" : the pool could not be saved. Free some storage space and rebuild, or reload the page.

"Scheduled build complete. Open it from the build tabs." : a cloud build finished into a new tab. Click that tab.

"N pinned builds kept" : a bulk delete skipped the builds you pinned. Unpin a build to include it.

"Couldn't save the note on the server" : the note stays on this device until the next reload. Try again in a moment.
