A pick is a lineup you set as an entry in a named contest. The fill seats every pick first and lets the contest's strategy fill the rest. The same lineup can be a pick in two contests; that is two picks. A pick belongs to this build tab on this device, like the FILL FROM override beside it.
Before you start
- You need an uploaded entries file with at least one contest. A pick names a contest, so a slate with no entries has nothing to pick into.
- The slate must be open. A pick changes the preview. Fill writes it into your entries, and after your first Fill, Live Sync writes it for you.
- A contest holds at most as many picks as it has entries. A single-entry contest replaces its pick. A 20-max refuses a 21st pick until you remove one.
Set one lineup as your single entry
- Open the Entries Preview tab. Find the contest's accordion.
- Click the pin at the right of its header, Choose lineups. The Pool tab opens in Select mode with a bar that reads Set as entry · your contest · 0/1. While you choose, each card shows the sim numbers of this contest only.
- Sort, filter, and expand cards as you like. Rank by orders the pool by this contest's numbers. When the contest fills by Win Paths, it starts on Win Paths: each card shows Paths N, the simulated games in which the lineup finished in this contest's top 1%, and the first card is the lineup Win Paths would pick, unless a contest that fills earlier under All Unique already claimed it. Click one card's checkbox. The bar reads 1/1, the card wears the contest's color dot, and a message confirms with Undo. Press Fill N to write the seat. When Live Sync keeps this build's entries synced, the seat saves by itself.
- Click Done. You are back on Entries Preview. The seat card carries a Picked badge and the header reads 1 entry · 1 picked. The footer reads Synced.
- Export as you do today.
Pick some seats and let Fill do the rest
Do the same on a 20-max and click three cards. The bar reads 3/20. Back on Entries Preview, the header line reads 20 entries · 3 picked · 17 from Win Paths. Your three picks sit first with the Picked badge; the strategy named in FILL FROM fills the other seventeen.
Fill off
The Fill switch in Contest Setup tells the strategy to leave a contest alone. A pick is a hand action, so it lands whether the switch is on or off. With Fill off and one pick in a 10-max, the header reads Fill off · 1 picked · 9 untouched: the pick fills its seat and the other nine seats stay as they are. A pick into a Fill-off contest takes an empty seat first, then a seat this build filled. A seat another build filled is replaced only in a single-entry contest.
Pick from any card
Every lineup card and table row has a pin beside the trash can, on the Pool tab and on Entries Preview. With one contest in your file the pin reads Set as entry and toggles. With several it opens the contest list: one row per contest with its color dot, its name, and picked/seats. A row the lineup already fills shows a check; click it to remove the pick. A full contest disables its row for a lineup it does not hold. A contest with Fill off says so and stays live.
- A Pool card wears one color dot per contest that uses it in Entries Preview, the same dot as the contest's accordion. A pick counts as a use. Hover the dots to see the contests; a pick reads (picked). While you choose for one contest, a lineup with no dot is one no other contest uses.
- The Pool tab counts your picks, 150 · 4 picked, and the Picked chip in the Pool header shows picks only.
- On a seat card inside a contest, the pin reads Remove from your contest.
- A picked lineup with a player ruled out wears an amber mark on the seat card and the Pool card.
Bulk
Select mode puts a checkbox on every lineup. Check the lineups you want, then use the bar.
- Set as entries opens the contest list. A contest with fewer free seats than your selection reads 12 of 20 will fit and takes the first twelve in the order the list shows them. A single-entry contest takes one.
- Remove from contest lists only the contests your checked lineups fill.
- Trash and Keep only never trash a picked lineup. The confirm says how many picks stay.
On a phone the bar keeps the count, Set as entries, More, and Done; the other actions sit under More.
Change your mind
- On a seat card, click the pin, Remove from your contest. With Fill on, the strategy fills the seat again. With Fill off, the seat keeps the lineup it holds until you set another pick or turn Fill on. The message offers Undo.
- Every pick action has Undo: a set, a replace, a removal, a bulk set, a bulk removal, and the clear-all in Contest Setup's Picks column.
- Your saved entries follow your picks the same way as any other change. After you press Fill once, Live Sync writes each pick for you. After an export, Live Sync waits: make your picks, then press Fill and export again. The footer counts picks not yet in your entries.
- After the first game starts, a pick needs Fill. A pick whose lineup holds a started player is refused with the fill's own message.
What a pick survives and what drops it
| Event | The pick |
|---|---|
| Reload on the same device | Stays |
| Another device | Gone. Picks live on this device, like FILL FROM overrides. |
| A simulation or a re-sim | Stays |
| A build tab switch | Stays with its build tab and returns with it |
| Rebuild | Gone. The new pool has new lineups; the rebuild confirm names the count. |
| A new entries upload with fewer seats | The first N picks stay; a contest no longer in the file loses its picks. A message names what dropped. |
| Trash, Move to build, or a permanent delete of the lineup | Gone. The message names the contests. |
| Export | Stays. Export never changes your entries, and it pauses Live Sync. Press Fill to write the pick. |
Troubleshooting
"Contest full · 20 of 20 picked. Remove a pick first." : the contest holds as many picks as it has entries. Remove one from a seat card or clear the contest's picks in Contest Setup.
"N of N seats held by Build 2" : The contest's Fill switch is off and every free seat holds another build's lineup. Turn Fill on, pick from that build, or pick into a single-entry contest, which replaces.
"Games have started" : the slate locked. A pick whose lineup holds a started player cannot fill. Use the Swap sheet for entries after lock.
"Undo could not restore N picks" : the seat is gone, another build filled it, or the lineup left the pool since the removal. Set the lineup as an entry again from its card.
