What DFS Hero does

Last updated Nov 4, 2026

DFS Hero builds, tests, and enters daily fantasy lineups for DraftKings and FanDuel. You bring the contests you entered, and DFS Hero builds a pool of thousands of lineups, scores it against a realistic field for each contest, picks the lineups that fit each contest, writes them into your entries file, and swaps the open seats after the first games start. It covers 14 sports on DraftKings (NFL, CFB, NBA, WNBA, CBB, MLB, NHL, golf, NASCAR, F1, MMA, soccer, tennis, and League of Legends) and 11 on FanDuel, which has no F1, tennis, or League of Legends.

The pieces

The Day View

The home screen: every slate on a date, one table row per slate, or one card in the card view and on a phone. From a slate you open it, drop your entries file on it, start or schedule a build, or run a Playbook. See Day View.

The workspace

Every slate you open gets a tab in the top bar with the Player Pool, the CONTESTS and LINEUPS rails, and the build controls. See Open and manage slate tabs.

The Player Pool

The grid of every player on the slate with salary, projection, ownership, and leverage. Lock or exclude players, edit projections, or upload your own. See Read the player grid.

Build

Build opens Build Settings, where you shape the pool: lineup count, projections, randomness, exposure caps, stack rules, and more. Essential builds up to 500 lineups per build. Power builds up to 10,000. See Build Settings overview.

The lineups panel

After a build the lineups panel holds the pool and Entries Preview, the lineups a Fill would put in your entries, picked by a Selection method and ordered by a Rank by metric. See The lineups panel.

Simulate

Simulate scores the pool against your contests, each with its real field size, entry fee, and payout ladder, and scores every lineup on ROI, win probability, top finishes, cash rate, and leverage. See How the simulator works.

Entries

The entries file is the CSV you download from DraftKings or FanDuel for the contests you entered. Upload it to the slate, DFS Hero fills one lineup into each entry, and you export the filled file to the site. See Upload your entries and Contest Setup and Fill.

Late Swap

After the first games start, the Swap sheet re-solves only the seats whose games have not started and prepares a new entries file. It works on classic slates for team sports on both sites. See What Late Swap does.

Playbooks and cloud builds

A Playbook is a saved plan for one sport, site, and format: build, simulate, select, fill, and export in one run. Run it by hand, or schedule it 5 to 30 minutes before lock as a cloud build that runs with the app closed. Power plan. See What is a playbook.

Hero Chat

The assistant in the top bar. It can change build settings, build, simulate, fill, export, swap, and create a Playbook, each through a card you confirm. Both plans; Essential has 5 new messages a day. See Meet Hero Chat.

Hero IQ

Coaching written from your own builds and results, on the Dashboard and in Film Room. Power shows the full read; Essential shows the Dashboard headline and top opportunity. See Hero IQ.

Replay

Replay scores lineups against a contest that already finished, on the real leaderboard with the real payouts. Both plans replay the Entries Preview lineups, the entries you played, or a saved build against one contest. Power replays a Playbook across up to 20 past slates. See Replay.

Film Room and the Dashboard

Film Room turns your contest results into profit and ROI by sport and contest type, and compares your entries with the field. DFS Hero tracks every entry you upload and the entries under the site username you save, and you can import past history. The Dashboard sums up your builds, records, and bankroll. See Film Room and The Dashboard.

Scouting

Scouting shows how another DraftKings or FanDuel player plays: their tracked contests, money, and finishes, their ownership, stacks, and salary beside the field and the top 1% of the same contests, and their player pool. Every plan sees the featured pros. Power looks up any username, keeps a watchlist of 10, opens the full report and each slate, and compares the pro with your own play. See What is Scouting.

Game Plan

Game Plan shows how the winning lineups of a tournament differ from the field, contest after contest: their stacks, ownership, salary, and duplicates, for the winners, the top 0.1%, the top 1%, the top 10%, and the cashing lineups. A difference that holds slate after slate is marked as an edge or a fade. Every plan opens the featured reports. Power opens every tournament on both sites, saves reports, and applies an edge to a build or a playbook. See What is Game Plan.

How the pieces connect

The pieces form one loop, and the entries file is its spine.

  1. You enter contests on the site and download the entries file.
  2. You open the slate and upload the file. DFS Hero now knows how many lineups you need and which contests to simulate.
  3. You build. The pool is larger than the count you need.
  4. You simulate. Every lineup gets a score per contest.
  5. The Selection and Contest Setup pick lineups from the pool, per contest.
  6. Fill writes those lineups into your entries. Export writes the entries into the site's file. You upload it.
  7. After the first lock, Late Swap changes the open seats and gives you a new file.
  8. After the slate, the Entries view, Replay, and Film Room tell you what happened.

A Playbook runs steps 3 through 6 for you, and a cloud build runs them before lock without you. Hero Chat drives any step from a sentence. The walkthrough of one Sunday is The DFS Hero loop.

Without an entries file, you type the lineup count, pick contests by hand, and export a plain lineup file. See Your first build.

Both sites

Every piece works on DraftKings and on FanDuel, and the guide gives both where a step differs. See Supported sports and sites and Showdown and single-game slates.
